Well one thing is not very much snow in CA, and there are lots of nice places to see and fun things to do here. The weather here is amazing and racism is a bit less here.

I have lived both in east coast (DC, Philly) & also here in LA. After moving LA, these are the things that I missed.
    1. Missed the fall weather & snow - I loved the snow ;-)
    2. Missed all my friends - we had a big gang.
    3. Missed the economical factors.. (eg) . for 1000$ I could get a decent fully equipped apartment with all amenities (tennis court, pool, gym, w/d in apt) etc... where-as we need to spend closer to 2000$ for a similar apartment in Los Angeles or surrounding areas.

Here are few things that I enjoyed in LA
    1. Warm & sunny weather
    2. Diversified environment - we chose an apartment which has diversified communities.
    3. gives an island feel !! - Somehow, may be because of the weather, the beach and having too many tourists, I always feel as if am on vacation, and would return back home (to east-coast)

It is more than a year, and I still miss east-coast ;-)

    Cheers,
    JM

I have been in the same situation lived in NJ/Philly. But gradually started settling after 2years. Now I can't imagine going back to east.

I agree with most of the points...I used to live in Michigan..had a huge gang...loved snow and fall weather. Apartments rates were cheaper ..spacious nice and cozy. Here in ca, everything is bright and shiny and expensive...I would rather prefer texas..where there are beaches..rain..snow all together :)
