    Hello,
We are planning our first trip to LV in feb second week. If we are not planning for hoover dam or great canyon, is it still worth ?. If yes what all we should focus on our 3 days trip. Also any good casino spots for first timers

    Thanks

    hello sunilkumar2011,
Vegas is a city that is full of activity 365 days a year. Of course, going in February is not the same as going in December/January when the whole city is celebrating the holidays with decorations and lighting at its very best. However, you can still have fun just walking down the strip on Las Vegas Blvd., playing on the slot machines, taking lots of pictures and not to forget the all you can eat buffet. My DH and I had gone in the month of February too, a few years back, and I was surprised to see new hotels in place of the old ones. I used to love the buffet at a hotel and casino called Alladin's and in its place was Planet Hollywood. We ended up eating at Luxor. Anyway, there is always something new happening in Vegas. I'm sure you and your DH will have lots of fun. Have a blast. Remember, "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas."

    Hi,

Vegas is a reall great place, any time of the year. Try to stay in Stratosphere, where the rooms will be cheap and the buffett is awesome.. also don't forget to take the three top thrill rides on the top of stratosphere. You can walk about the Strip (a place where all the big casinos are present).. or take a bus with a day pass and go up and down the street. There are a lot of free shows in each and every casino. The main ones to mention are: the lion show at MGM, Treasure Island show in the evening, Fountain show at Bellagio, Circus show at Circus Circus, boat ride at Venetian etc. There is a high thrill roller coaster in New York New York, which is good to take too. There are some good priced shows too, for all age groups and all types of shows. I have seen one at Stratosphere and it was fantastic..it was called Bite and it is not suitable for young children. So be careful while choosing shows when kids are around. Then there are the casinos where you can play slot machines, Black Jack, Poker, Craps and Roulette. I really loved gambling, but do remember to play and drink responsibly especially since the drinks are all free.

You guys would enjoy each and every minute of it. If you crave for some Indian food, it is all there. Some good restaurants are there, but will be crowded most of the time.

So have a great trip! and remember to take a lot of pics!!! :)

Vegas is an interesting place to visit any time of the year. Right now you will mostly see decorations related to Chinese new year and Valentine's Day. 3 days is a good time period for Vegas experience. My suggestions:

    1. Get the daily bus pass. The casinos are huge and will seem deceptively close but if you walk up and down you will be extremely tired by the end of the day.
    2. Apart from the free shows, you should definitely see one of the shows by Cirque du Soleil. Their best shows are 'O' and 'Ka'. Pick one of the two and you are sure to enjoy it. It is well worth the expense.
    3. Split the strip among the 3 days and try to focus on one part at a time instead of jumping all over the place.
    4. You can get good rates for hotels on the strip itself. If you are going with kids though, I would advise you to select a hotel which does not have a casino to prevent being exposed to cigarette smoke. Even non smoking rooms have a slight smoked effect to it.

    Have a fun trip!!

    Hi,
If you're visiting Vegas, it is best to plan for more days(if possible). We planned for 3 days as well and came back with lot of regret that we could not see even half of the city properly. The casinos are really huge and you might end up spending the whole day inside admiring the architecture(there is a lot more inside than just games). Many of them had a lot of free shows in the evening, which was fun and colorful, I do not recall the names :-(. You can manage to go to the Hoover dam(just a stop over and wont take more than an hour or so) and Grand Canyon, if you plan to drive back and forth on the same day, make sure you're there in the Canyon in the evening before sunset to see the brilliant colors. Food will not be a big issue as most casinos have buffets for reasonable prices. Have fun!
