    HI

I had done this in my college days..

Converted many of mom's pattu sarees to selwar. Selwar comes maximum 1year..

So its better to keep it as saree if feel.. You can always stich with chudidar material/

You may not get good life if you convert sarees into salwars. Better keep them as tease and you can give them for printing.
I have given different look to my old sarees by given it for printing (Block printing, designs with different contrast colors)

All of the posts above are right :) I converted my pattu paavadai into salwar and it is really nice even now :)

But when i converted mom's sarees (that were so nice) into salwars, they became quite ugly :(

So be careful on choosing which ones to stich and which ones not..

we donate sarees that are not often used

It depends on the tailor how well he/ she stitches it.

    hi all

thanks for ur ideas and views.
i wanted to do this not because my sarees look old but i never wear sarees. some are brand new and some i wore it just for 2/3 times.

let me check with a gud tailor and as the il has stated clearly it depends on the saree for the outcome as a chudi.

I have tried. It really depends on the saree..You need to really think once to see if its worth converting a saree to salwar both Money wise and also the Look wise(of the salwar). I have converted one saree and the results were amazing. I do not have the Picture right now, but can post it tomorrow. Its a very simple saree(350 bucks). But after all the Pain i took in explaining the tailor on how the output should be it was really worth the effort, or i would say even more than that. Kudos to the tailor too..
