Is it ok to breastfeed a baby if the car is moving.

    Hi ladies.

    Is is it ok to breastfeed a baby on lap while the car is moving or we need to stop a while to breastfeed the baby on lap and again put the baby back in infant seat. ?

    It is against the law in the US for a baby to not be in a child seat while the car is in motion. In Texas, if stopped, it is a fine of between 25 and 250 dollars. Stop and fed the baby if you are traveling.

    No it is not ok. Leaving the laws aside, it is not safe for babies to not be in the car seat in the US mainly because of the speed. In India it is a different situation.

    Always stop the car before taking the baby out of the car seat.

    Shruthi, no breastfeeding during the ride. Bottle is OK as you dont need to unbuckle him. Since he is supplemented with formula now, you can bottle feed during car rides.

    It is not safe for the babies to be unbuckled, even on a 60 zone; you never know when the driver needs to use sudden breaks. Apart from that, if we unbuckle the baby in car, the license gets suspended here.
