    Hi all,

My husband got a job in Malaysia and he will be travelling in next two weeks. He will then process my Dependent Visa.
But, neither mine nor his passport has spouse name added.
Is it mandatory to have it added to process dependent Visa??

    pls help.

    Thanks.

Marriage certificate is sufficient.. However later you can add his name in your passport to minimise the documents.

    Thanks all for the replies...
When checked with his company immigration team, they said marriage certificate is enough. Anyway, We are planning to endorse his name in my passport to be on the safer side.
The problem is it will take 2-3 weeks for it to be done and the new passport will have the chennai address which is not my permanant address. :(

    Hi preethi,

we are not sure, We contacted the agent who helped my husband with his reference VISA. He said it will take a week atleast and requested some Address proofs, ID proofs, marriage certificate etc. After submitting the papers, He will schedule an appointment in passport office, i have to go and get the new passport after that, with spouse name added.
As I dont have any address proof of my chennai address, i have requested a letter from the bank which will take a week to be done.
Is there any other simpler procedure than this? pls let me know.

    Thanks,
    Celia.

    Preethi,

Will the marriage certificate suffice? Can we stop all this procedures and process DP with marriage certificate alone?
What do you advise? We are confused and running short of time.

    Celia.

Celia, I don't understand why you have to get a new passport..

I'm sure a marriage certificate would suffice. But since you are new to this country and running short of time, it may be easier to follow what the agent suggests..

Always, we would ask the concerned embassy directly on how to proceed rather than asking agents.. See if you can contact the embassy .. That saves a lot of cost too..

Good luck. Sorry I hope my answer is not very late

    Thanks Preethi.
We consulted with his company's immigration dept, They confirmed that the marriage certificate will suffice. So, we stopped trying to add spouse name in my passport.

    Hope everything goes fine. :)
