Shanvy ma'am, I have seen many people purchase the IP for India voltage from Amazon UK. I don't know if it makes financial sense though, to have it shipped like that. I don't know what the cost is etc., but this facebook group that I am part of, many people seem to ship it to India from Amazon UK.

I too heard of the same @peartree. I have seen two models in mea one that bakes too. I am put off by the teflon coating abd the lid . The cleaning would be hard.will wait and take a call. Dd said she will try the traditional way, because of my continuous lectures on time management:neutral:

And. Unless you forget soaking or you are in a hurry to make some chana or chole, i would say so let us soak the beans as it would break certain enzymes and reduce the gut troubles that many face.

I soak overnight. Wash until water is clear. Boil without closing lid. Drain the water and add warm or hot water so that you dont shock the beans. And cook as usual. Works well in my home. We have reflux, gut issues among friends and families but this works well.

We do presoak even before planting.

    Just my 2c

That is the reason I have given up the idea.
Our electricity bill in summers is almost one fourth the monthly expense.
Besides I have six pressure cookers ( thanks to mom:rolleyes:....she gave me one more last time I visited)....what will I do with those.
    Waiting for a gas version.

For gas problems because of rajma.....heeng and ginger helps.
If you don't want the strong ginger taste, just crush a big piece and add before cooking.Remove the piece after cooking.

I agree on pre soaking the beans before cooking. I have been trying the instant pot with a variety of recipes for my son's sake. Because of lack of time ( when it comes to cooking), he wants to make one pot meals with minimal preparation. Have tried pongal, vegetable rice, different kinds of soups with and without lentils/ beans, chole, dals, Rajma, etc. I like using the trivet with a couple of containers for rice, dal, etc.

    Hi JAG,
Tried following your Quinoa recipe in IP replacing Quinoa with Oats.

Not sure if it's me or IP that goofed up a little bit, I had some food burnt and stuck to the bottom of the vessel. But if you notice the consistency of the food doesn't look like not enough water. May be the Oats got over-cooked and upma looked more like bisibelabath, tasted yummy though!

Any recommendations? Like a different mode (manual instead of rice?) and less cook time?
I'm still doing trial and error with my IP :)
