Dog cast(e) aside for eating dalit's roti!

A village panchayat was called and it was decided that the dog, a pet in a Rajput's family, would now have to live with Sunita, a dalit, because it had become an untouchable after eating the roti fed by her.

Can a dog's life become worse than this? Poor fellow! Being a pet and after having all comforts now the poor doggie languishing, tied to a pole not even having a street dog's freedom to roam around

A mongrel brought up in an upper class home in Manikpur village in Morena , Madhya pradesh, was kicked out after the Rajput family discovered that their Sheru was fed a roti by a dalit woman. He was declared untouchable and tied to a post at the dalit's locality. Not only that, it was declared that it no longer could be called Rampal's (the owner) pet or the village dog and it should live only on the dalit's side of the village. Thus the doggie was excommunicated.The dalit was also fined for feeding a pet belonging to an upper class man.


The dalit woman and her brother wanted to file a case at the police station. But they were directed to take the matter to the SC/ST Atrocities police station.There the police asked her why she fed the dog and did not file the case. Then they went and submitted a memorandum to the DSP and also to the district collector.

In the mean while the owner of the pet complained that his pet dog had fallen sick after eating the roti fed by the dalit woman. So the investigation is going on.

Poor Sheru is having not even a dog's life!
