    HI All.,
    Here i am giving some Colour Idioms.
    An Idiom is a fixed expression with a certain meaning.

    1.Blue in the face
    ex: I pointed out till I was blue in the face — almost going out of my mind.

    2..white falg- to surrender
    ex: At the end I decided to show white flag.

    3.green ---rather inexperienced
    I'm a bit green — rather inexperienced, about buying cars.

    4.red carpet--.preferential treatment
    The manager rolled out the red carpet — gave me preferential treatment, when he saw me coming.

    5..red-pencilled — censored

    Now i gave only 5 later on i will post more..,

    Next continution of idioms...

    6..Once in a blue moon — very rarely.

    7..white lies — only half-truths?
    the dealer r telling simply white lies.


    8..red handed--in the middle of the act
    I actually caught one of the salesmen red-handed--in th middle if his act.


    9..see red — get angry

    10..green light — permission to continue

    Here I am giving some more Idioms.

    11..pink — very fit
    Ex: I was feeling in the pink--very fit as we approached the man standing by the sales office.

    12..red rag --somehow provoke

    13..white wash — excuse all the stories

    14..black listed-- not approved,no longer approved.

    15..black and blue — covered in bruises
    Ex: When I got home I was black and blue all over — covered in bruises

    Do u mind if I join n share a few color idioms with u all?

    There is a lot to learn from this thread n I like this game as well.So I wanna give a couple of color idioms....

    Black

    black and white

    MEANING: think of everything or judge everything as either good or bad

    EXAMPLE:

    ” He tries to see everything in black and white although he knows this is impossible.”

    Blue

    a blue-eyed boy

    MEANING:
    critical description of a boy/young man who has been singled out for special favours by someone in authority.

    EXAMPLE:

    ”John is a real blue-eyed boy. The team manager always gives him special treatment. It isn’t fair to the rest of us.”

    Yellow


    yellow-bellied

    MEANING: extremely timid, cowardly

    EXAMPLE:

    He is a yellow-bellied coward and never is willing to fight for what is right.

    Dear Sunikris
    Nice thread. Will be useful. I can think of some more that come to my mind.

    Out of the blue: Suddenly.
    Black sheep: Someone from the family who does not fit in, i.e., behaviour or character is not good.
    Red herring: Something that distracts from the real issue.
