ideas for dance competition themed festivals

    Hi All,

    In my daughter's school there is a dance competition this weekend, and she wanted to take participation in that. Theme given is Festivals. She is 8 years old. I want to encourage her to participate, but there is less time, and I am not knowing which to choose for her. Can somebody please suggest me any dance videos themed on Festivals.

    You can do Christmas themed by dressing up in santa outfits etc. You can do Halloween, dressed up as Zombies or other horror stuff.

    If you want Indian festivals then I guess you could try Diwali and dance with small lamps (battery operated ones).

    I don't know any dance videos but you can decide on a theme and search online for videos.

    Hi Saleema,

    Thank you for the suggestion. The dance competition was over last friday, and she did Lingashtakam (on Lord Shiva).

    My daughter performed Bharatha natyam for lingashtakam (Brahma Murari Surarchitha Lingam...). She is learning Bharatanatyam (but initial stage only). The steps were simple enough that she could manage. You can search for Lingashtakam in Youtube, and you could find a dance performed by two children. The music was little different, sounds like a fusion of classic and western music. It was good, and around 4min30 seconds. Right now, I don't have the exact link for it, but there is only one dance by two kids for lingashtakam.

    Even my daughter Bharatha natyam for lingashtakam . And am very much impressed the way she performed it! She is now in the beginners stage. Hope 1 day she will make it National and beyond it.
