Missing a word and finding that out
In the next second I smile at myself.
Buttoning a shirt and missing one out,
Realizing that much later, smiling at self.

    Wishing your anniversary late,
Getting a response that simply states
How late I was, though you didn't berate,
I smiled again reminiscing that date.

    Procrastinating being so close
To me till one fine day you said
"Later means never!", and simply closed
My case, I smile, wondering your wit.

The little girl who'd seldom surface,
Wondering about new things she see,
Keen to learn and share always,
I smile big as she comes before me.

Doing things that I liked the most,
Being there when I needed the most,
Never will you dare to be considered past,
Smile with you mom, till my presence lasts!

Nice poem. Above lines are simple but expressed so much emotional touch. I smiled while reading your poem and it reminds my DS's recent letter to me:).

Thank you @Mistt, for your nice feedback. I lost my mom just about an year back. But I somehow feel more connected now.

Happy to know that you received a letter from your dear son. Such things are rare these days. Kudos to him! :) -rgs

    Dear RGS,

A proud mother and a proud son! Your mom is etched in your memories forever now. Physical departure can happen but no one can take your feelings and emotions for her forever. This is demonstrated in this poem.

I know about your mom through couple of your previous threads. I understand your feelings, too. Your mom isn't with you physically but her blessings always with you.

Thanks @Viswamitra for your comforting words. There are quite a few debts that you can never repay. This stands at the top. -rgs

Thanks @Mistt for offering some solace. I am not grieving, but slowly learning to accept though a part of me always longs to be with her.

@rgsrinivasan, my sincere condolences on your loss.

What a beautiful poem! I'm sure she's smiling wherever she is.

Thanks @Amica for your warm support.
Its just that I miss her more as the days go by. Its not grief, I am out of it, but something trivial always leads to incidences related to her. I just smile and move on. -rgs
