    1. As my family now has only two members, I find it difficult to cook in small quantities. So this my trick. While making sambar, I stop with boiling the tamarind with sambar powder, veggies etc. This can be refrigerated. As and when needed i take a little bit of this and add some fresh cooked dal, curry leaves, tadka etc to get fresh sambar each time. It is really good.

    2. To make Thuvayal, make a dry mix of chilli, tamarind, roasted urad dal, hing etc, and keep in the fridge. Whenever you want a thuvayal blend a few teaspoons of this with any base like coconut or podina or fresh dhania or curry leaves...This is really fast. I send them to my daughters in the US too. They appreciate it a lot.
