how to test the originality of Saffron available in stores?

Hi all,
I just bought 1 gram of so called original saffron from an exhibition for 400 bucks. when I kept one strand on my tongue friend could see the color within a minute. However at home i put one strand in hot milk and there was no color or aroma.Was I:bonk duped?:bonk

Since the saffron is very costly ..and one gram of it will cost around 450 bucks..there are high chances of duplicating it....
The original saffron will have very good aroma and also the colour. To test it ..put 2 strands of saffron in hot water and leave it for a while ...The colour can be seen and smell the aroma.
