How To Sneak In 10,000 Steps Per Day

    I got an inexpensive fitness tracker and I'm logging around 6,000 steps per day.

    Any creative ways to sneak in more steps, esp indoors?

    No elevators, only stairs.

    Drink water every 30 mins, even a sip, but let the water be as far away as u can manage, so u walk to get it, this can be for many other things too, not just water

    Even at office, take a break every fixed hour, take one round of walk.

    walk up to people if possible instead of msging them about work if in the same building

    Start walking short distances instead of taking a cab / transportations.

    Use only stairs.
    If you are commuting by bus/train, get down one stopping before and walk to your destination.
    Shop for vegetables/fruits on daily basis. This will ensure you get fresh items also give you an opportunity to walk.
    If you are religious you can visit the places of worship weekly twice/thrice.

    I think I posted this in the running club thread but could not locate it.
    This is what I do.

    For me 10 minutes walking is equivalent to 1,000 steps.
    So I spread throughout the day.

    1. While brushing my teeth I walk to and fro in the bathroom.
    2. While waiting for something to boil/cook/ I walk diagonally across my kitchen.
    3. Every hour at work I get up and walk for 5 minutes or 10 minutes depending on work load.
    4. I use the restroom that is farthest from my desk
    5. I climb the stairs when not carrying anything heavy.
    6. I fill my water bottle with half the water so I am forced to walk to the water fountain.
    7. I park my car at the farthest parking bay at work, and while shopping also, even in winter.
    8. The rest I walk after I go home.
    8. I reserve the last 1,000 steps for my post-dinner walk around the house.

    There you have it. Hope you find some you can adapt.

    I wasn't sure where to post .... I thought this is under Friends and Neighbors because in about 2 months, I might participate in friendly competition with Co-workers.......
