It’s always better to buy these products from wholesale shops than from a retailer if you have the time and energy .Of course getting all these things from nearby retailer is a lot less tiresome but is heavy on the pocket .Irrespective of where you are staying you will be able to find places where you get these items for cheap. For e.g. in Bangalore Jayanagar,Marthahalli,BVK Iyengar road etc have whole sale shops which gives you electrical, ceramics, furnishings and lights at a wholesale price.

First step is to make a list of all the items you would require and give an approximate amount you are willing to spend for each. While selecting electrical it is always best to get items which are rated with 5stars.Its costlier than the rest but think about it as a one-time investment.5stars means its more energy efficient , meaning a lesser electricity bill. Coming to lights there are multiple options available out there. LED ,halogen,CFL,tube lights etc.Its said LED lights and CFLs are the most energy efficient. Halogen lights are very bright. So you can opt for them in a room where there is less sunlight. If you are a fan of chandeliers, but doesn’t have the roof height for one you have good news. In all the lights shops I visited I could see wall lamp versions of the chandeliers. They are as beautiful and elegant as the normal dropping ones.

Second step is to identify the wholesale shops. Ask around or search in net(our dear friend Google) high and low for such shops. Each 100Rs saved on each item comes to a big amount by end of day. So each rupee matters. Once you identify a few wholesale shops visit those shops personally and check out their collection and get an estimate. Whenever we visited a shop we used to tell them "We are setting up a home and is just looking around to get an idea." None of the shop keepers threw us out, all of them were really helpful with giving details on each items and their price. Get an estimate from each shop and compare those.

Next step is easier of course:) Select the shop which offers you a lower price; also which has items of your choice.

Again you can try your bargain skills once more just before billing, you can save a few more thousands.
While choosing the curtain or blinds you can save more if you choose the same material for all. Other than going for different patterns of curtain in each room select a single pattern for all the rooms, this will reduce wastage of cloth and save your money. Before you buy home and kitchen appliances find out if there are any festivals round the corner. If so its sure that there will be an accompanying sale in the market. This will again help to save your hard earned money.

Thanks Ami. It would be more helpful of you can share the shop's list if you have collected any.
