    hi all,
you can also make very thin foam mattresses for navarathri n special occassions. this is how you cann make.
Buy very thin foams in the size of 4ft by 1 and half or 2 ft. cover with half of the pattu sari and stitch all the four sides. you can stitch criss crossingly (not very tightly) to keep the foam in tact. you can make two thin matresses out of one pattu sari in this manner. It will be attractive near the golu padis for ladies and children to sit on.
Or else give it to your grand ma (who is keen on madi and achaaram) for afternoon siestas. she will love it.

    Shantha rajan.

    Hi all,

very innovative ideas. I gave away my mom's sareers to both of my sisters. I do not have any now:cry:

I have one saree which my father bought me (that was the 1st saree in my life) and it is almost 25 years old !!!

I will do the cushion covers and place it on my sofa. It will look good:)

    Dear Sadhu,

Lot of brilliant ideas. My mom used to say its very good for babies to sleep on silk cloth. She asks me to fold the old silk saree and put it on the floor and put my baby on it. Some old tradition, maybe

so Just an improved version of it. We can stitch baby bed covers or baby mat covers using silk cloth. will look nice when we take photographs of the baby in the cradle, while sleeping n all.
    :)
