How much Dakshina for Grihaprabesh Puja

    Hi,
    I would appreciate if anyone can share their views regarding how much Dakshina should we pay to the priest who will be doing a GrihaPrabesh Puja at our newly purchased home. Any views/advice is welcome.

    We are very confused and want to know what others usually pay.

    Hi Mithun,
    Do you belong to the same temple as the priest? The reason I am asking is that I have seen some temples post the fee for certain things like pooja, wedding etc. Is this information avaiable? If not, do you have close friends that you can pose this question to?
    I always felt it was up to the individual as to the amount for dakshina. I have in the given anywhere from anywhere $40 to $300 for different poojas... it all just depends.

    But the priest is actually not associated with a temple directly.
    The problem is I do not have any friend who has called any priest at their home for doing any Puja. I wanted to have a ballpark figure and your post helps.

    We called shastrigal from livermore temple for our gruhapravesham. They asked us to give $150 and $30 for mileage. The same is with ganesha shastrigal from Lakshmi-ganathy temple, san jose. You can give $200 - $250.
