How do you protect kitchen counter tops?

How do you all protect your kitchen counter top from stains? Do you spread any sheets/mats?
How do you remove stains on a light colored conter tops?

Please share your tips.

Heard Zud all purpose cleaner is gud on kitchen top...yet to try it though...

Yeah i need to know as well..
We have a granite top on Kitchen and i go crazy seeing my MIL spill turmeric on it .
I end up cleaning behind her during every meal. Its exhausting.. If I do get lazy those seem to stick through and to my eyes I feel the turmeric has seeped into granite ( I dont know if its my eyes or does it really happen).

hi DST,

I use 'method' brand kitchen cleaner that doesn't contain chemicals and clean the surface well.I buy that from Target.

Does it work for Granite Countertops too. What about cleaning Smooth cooking range. ? Any tips. Thanks in advance.

For granite surface there is granite and marble spray from method but i havent used that .I can see positive reviews on amazon site.

Thanks for the reply. My kitchen counter top is sandal color, so whatever spills on it becomes prominent mark that sits on it. If I scrub it hard with the scrubber, the countertop painting/color comes off and the rest looks different...biggest problem - hard to maintain part of the house I feel....

Will check that "Method" spray in target.
I wonder whether stains visible in marble tops too?? Won't it go away from the shiny/smooth surface???

Others share your experience on this...will be good for all of us for a stain-free counter top....
