Hoping For Successful Dr's Appointment

I'm accompanying my Dad to Dr's Appointment. This is consultation for major surgery he needs that was caused by complications from a surgery he had in India more than 40 years ago. And when he had surgery to correct this (10 yrs ago in USA) it made things 10 times worse. I dunno how my Dad is tolerating all the pain and suffering.

The surgery required is rather delicate so I've gone through pains on how to explain Dr the history and the current problem in few lines (using colorful diagrams because humans are visual creatures).


I'm hoping the Dr is caring and truly understands our situation. And I hope I remember to tell the Doctor important things.

Also at same time, hoping Dr call tell us whether he needs to continue certain medications. Lot of times medications are ineffective but cause unknown side-effects.

Just wanted to vent out

Just now I got off phone with Dr's office ---- Doctor was pulled into emergency surgery so appointment is cancelled!

We are checking whether we can get next earliest appointment!

When they cancelled appt today I stressed to office staff that his situation is so unique and this surgery is anything but routine.

Dr is fully booked this month. And I asked staff to talk to Dr if she can squeeze him in for even 5 minutes, given his unique medical situation.

Many times a caring Doctor who reassures patients is part of healing process.
