ROSE WATER
: A great cool, tightening pack to be applied after a facial massage. Applied with glycerin and lemon juice, it makes an effective body lotion for dry/normal skin.

EGG: Oily skin is balanced with a mask of egg white, a few drops of lime juice and a teaspoon of semolina. Leave on for half and hour, rub face gently with hands moistened with milk and wash off. Egg white is specially good for counteracting pimples. Dry skin is easily normalised by applying a mask prepared out off egg yolk, one tablespoon each of fresh milk, rose water and powder of dried peas. Leave on for half an hour and wash off, first with milk and then, water.

LIME JUICE: A natural bleach, mixed with gram flour, milk cream and honey of dry skin, and sandalwood powder and yoghurt for oily/normal skin. To eliminate freckles, use with milk, rose water, carrot juice and cucumber juice. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off.

CARROT: For skin rejuvenation, grated carrot, or its juice, applied on the face for 15 minutes and washed off, is excellent.

POTATO: To get rid of freckles and blemishes, place then potato slices in sour buttermilk and rub on pace, thrice a week. Apply a moisturiser before this procedure.

MINT: For treating acne and cleansing oily skin, the juice of fresh mint leaves, applied with moist cotton, is effective. If refrigerated and kept in an airtight bottle, it remains fresh for a week.

CUCUMBER
: To do away with dark circles and puffiness around the eyes, mix cucumber with and equal amount of milk, and chill. Sack cotton pads in it and keep on eyes for 10 minutes. Or, simply place chilled cucumber slices on the eyes for 15 minutes. Cucumber juice can be added to any face pack.

PAPAYA: For dry or dull skin, apply a mixture of the pulp of half a cup mashed papaya and teaspoon each of watermelon juice, lime juice, lime juice and honey.

MILK CREAM:
To counteract dry skin and make it satin smooth, apply a teaspoon of milk cream, mixed with gram flour and a teaspoon of honey with a pinch of turmeric.

TOMATO: For alleviating oily skin, use with sandalwood powder, wheat husk and a few drops of lime juice.

HONEY: For a radiant glow, apply this nature moisturizer for about 20 minutes.

HEALTHY HAIRS : The secrets of bountiful hair also remain hidden within the kitchen’s fold. Egg yolk is good for dry hair, while egg white balances out oily hair. It can be mixed in henna or used on its own. For healthy hair of all types, mix one cup yogurt, two teaspoons gram flour, White of an egg and juice of half lemon. If the problem is of dry hair, substitute egg white with a teaspoon of olive oil. Falling hair and dandruff are easily taken care of by applying plan curd on the hair for approximately half an hour before shampooing.

10 Steps for Radiant Skin

Beauty Tips: 10 Steps for Radiant Skin

When it comes to a glowing complexion what we put into our bodies and how we treat our skin and ourselves has a huge impact on how we look – no skin care product can overcome certain damage. Here are a few hints to take the best care of your skin and get that radiant glow.

1. Eat a balanced diet – what we put in our bodies will show on our skin. If you eat fatty foods and junk your skin will reflect that, so give your skin proper nutrition.

2. Get at least 7 to 8 hours sleep every night. A lack of sleep will show up under your eyes as dark circles or bags. Proper rest will also benefit your body and your life.

3. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day to keep your skin hydrated. It is best to spread the consumption of water in small amounts over the course of the day to be sure it is properly absorbed.

4. Maintain a regular exercise schedule. Exercise gets the blood moving and creates a healthy body.

5. Get lots of fresh air but avoid prolonged exposure to wind and cold.

6. Avoid the sun and tanning beds. The damage done by ultraviolet rays is long lasting and cannot be reversed.

7. Always wear sunglasses to avoid squinting.

8. Try to achieve a well-balanced life and reduce stress.

9. Exfoliate twice a week to rid your skin of dead cells.

10. Develop a skin care routine for your particular skn type.

If you have been neglecting your complexion start right away to improve it – it’s never too late. What you do today will show up in your skin in the future. It’s up to you.

beautiful body!!!

FACE

Contrary to popular belief, acne is not a skin problem that only adolescents and
teenagers face. In fact, many adults have it as well. However old or young, a commonality between the two lies in finding the ultimate solution to solving this painful condition. Here are some economical home remedies for clear and glowing skin.

Garlic has well known antibiotic properties making it an excellent treatment for pimples and acne. Peel and mash eight cloves of fresh garlic and apply to face avoiding the area around the eyes. Leave on for about 15 minutes and wash off with a warm cloth.

Dilute some lemon juice with water and dab on pimples to kill germs, cool inflammation and improve blood circulation.

To loosen and cleanse blackheads, make a paste of oatmeal, honey and an egg white. Apply to the skin, massage for 10 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.

A mask of grated apple mixed with a little honey is an excellent remedy for pimples. Most facial masks can be applied to the skin for 15-20 minutes then washed off with warm water, followed by a cold rinse.

HAIR
Having a bad hair day? Well here are some tried and tested fixer uppers to have
you looking like you just walked out of the salon. Let down your hair and do it in
style!

Mix a teaspoon of honey with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, then beat in an egg yolk. Massage on hair in small sections. Wrap head with shower cap for 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo. This is a great treatment for keeping split ends away.

Instead of shampooing, massage handfuls of baking soda into the hair and scalp to absorb oil and to loosen dead skin on scalp. Rinse thoroughly, use no other shampoos. While initially the hair may seem dry, after several weeks, the dandruff will be gone and your hair will be smooth and shiny.

Cook an un-peeled potato in boiling water and let it cool slightly. Dip a pastry brush or cotton ball in the cooking water, cover and saturate hair, being careful not to get any on skin. Leave on hair for 20 minutes then rinse out. This rinse works over a period of time to subtly colour and add highlights to the hair.

HANDS AND NAILS

A person’s hands and nails say a lot about them. Therefore, it is absolutely
essential to have them looking their best and neatest.

For making hands softer, put them in whole milk for five to ten minutes before beginning your manicure.

To avoid nails from splitting, always use a moisturiser after washing them. Also, take some vitamins to make the nails stronger.

Discolored nails can be avoided by applying a base coat on your nails before using coloured nail polish. This stops the colored polish from being in direct contact with the nail which in turn causes yellowing.

Mix lemon juice in barley powder and apply on finger joints to get rid off the dark ness. Do this twice a month and notice the difference.

FEET

Summer’s fast approaching and it’s time to put on those strappy sandals. Perk up spur feet and have them looking spotlessly clean by following a few tips.

For tired feet, put some salt in a bucket of lukewarm water and let them soak.

Use a pumice stone or scrubber regularly on the heels and soles of your feet. This will prevent calluses from forming.

Using a nailbrush regularly keeps the dirt and grime away, which usually causes smelly feet.

Never wear shoes while your feet are wet. Always wipe them dry, paying special attention to the area between your toes. Also, sprinkle some powder to deodorise them.

Homemade Facials

Homemade Facials

Following are a few homemade facials that will help make your skin beautiful and vibrant.

Citrus and grapefruit mask for oily skin type:

Ingredients:
½ grapefruit
½ lemon's juice
½ cored apple
1-2 egg whites
30-40 seedless grapes

Mix ingredients together in a blender. Apply on your face and leave for fifteen minutes, then rinse off with warm water.

Grapefruit unclogs pores and lemon is an excellent astringent and clarifier, while egg whites tighten the skin. Expect a tingle with this mask-that means its working but if your skin is dry it could start to burn. If this occurs, wash it off immediately.

Fruit Masque for dehydrated skin:

Ingredients:
1 cup of mixed mashed fruit (try melon, peaches, strawberries, and bananas)
2-3 Tbsp. Double cream
3 tsp. cottage cheese
1 tsp. brown sugar
4 tsp. oatmeal powder

Blend all the ingredients together and apply on your face. Relax for ten minutes, and rinse off with warm water.

The luscious combination of cream and juicy fruits works wonders after a hot day in the sun and helps refresh the skin.

Honey Mask

Ingredients:
1½ tbsp. honey
1 egg white
2 tsp. glycerin
1/3 cup flour

Whisk the honey, egg white and glycerin, and then add the flour. The result should be a thick paste. Apply to face and rinse after 15 minutes This mask effectively moisturizes and tightens the skin, making it smooth and soft.

Egg Mask

Ingredients:
1 egg white

Separate the egg white from the yolk. Put the egg white on your face and relax for about 15 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.

This mask leaves your skin smooth, refreshed and tightens your skin.

Ingredients:
Egg yolk

Separate the yolk from the egg white. Mix the yolk and apply over clean skin. Let it set for about 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

The egg yolk acts as an ant-oxidant and does wonders for your complexion as it pulls impurities out of your skin, leaving it soft and healthy.

Yoghurt Moisturizing Mask

Ingredients:
Plain yoghurt

Smooth yoghurt over your face and let it set for about 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

This mask is super-simple and will add lots of moisture to your skin. Especially a treat to people having dry skin. Plus, it's great for those of us who hate spending time in the kitchen and want something that's quick to prepare and easy to make.

Egg and Honey Facial

Ingredients:
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. honey
1 tsp. vitamin E oil
1 tsp. almond oil

Mix all ingredients together, stirring until smooth. To use, apply to face and rinse with warm water after 15 minutes.

This easy mask is suitable for all skin types. It clarifies and moisturizes the skin, leaving it cleansed and silken. Egg yolks contain anti-oxidants, which are very beneficial to our skin.

Vegetable Mask

Ingredients:
1/2 tomato, mashed (remove seeds and skin)
2 tsp. curd
1 tsp. mashed cucumber
3-4 tsp. oatmeal powder
3 crushed mint leaves.

Mix ingredients together and apply on your face. Wait for ten minutes, and then wash off with warm water.

This mask works well for oily skin, since it absorbs the surplus oils. Tomatoes are excellent anti-oxidants, and the curd prevents excessive drying.

Fruity Facials

Ingredients:
Strawberry

Crush strawberry and apply on face and leave it on for 2/3 minutes and then rinse with plenty of water.

Strawberry is rich in vitamin c and is very refreshing for your skin. However some people are allergic to strawberry so before applyinh test it on your skin and if there is any irritation then do not apply.

Ingredients:
Papaya

Crush papaya and apply on face and leave it on for 5 minutes. Rinse off with plenty of water.

Papayas contain an enzyme 'papain', which is useful in exfoliating the skin.

Ingredients:
Watermelon

Pamper your skin

Pamper your skin

How about whipping up beauty essentials that can pamper your skin, right at home?

And bored with flipping through magazines and channels? How about whipping up beauty essentials that can pamper your skin, right at home? We give you the ingredients…

Rose Petal face wash

All you need is one cup of clean rose petals, two cups of milk and two tablespoons of glycerine. Fill a pan with water and place a glass bowl on top. Heat until the water begins to simmer in the pan and then pour the milk into the bowl. Add glycerine and rose petals. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool. Now, pour it in a blender and mix well. Store in refrigerator. And whenever you feel tired, wash your face with the mixture and rinse with warm water.

Softening lotion

It takes time all right. But you will not regret it, for it makes your skin super soft. You’ll need two eggs, four tablespoons whipped margarine, half-a-cup plain curd, one cup milk, one teaspoon vinegar, three tablespoons rosewater, two teaspoons glycerine, one cup apple juice, 1/3 cup eau-de-cologne, 1/3 cup groundnut oil and one teaspoon ground cinnamon. Warm the margarine and mix in the peanut oil. When it cools, add the eggs and beat with an eggbeater while adding all the other ingredients (one at a time).

Store in a refrigerator. Smooth this all over your body and let it set for 25 minutes, before taking a warm shower.

Oatmeal bath

To exfoliate and rejuvenate your skin, try oatmeal bath. Mix 2/3 cup oatmeal, 2/3 cup powdered milk, and two teaspoons lavender oil in a blender. Put the mixture in a muslin fabric and tie off to make a bag, to drain the excess water. Apply this mixture on your body. Wait till it dries and wash it off with lukewarm water.

Muscle rejuvenator

This concoction will help rejuvenate your tired muscles. Mix 1/3 cup aloe vera gel, one teaspoon corn starch and one tablespoon witch hazel. Heat the mixture in a microwave or thick-bottom tawa until it turns into honey-texture (keep stirring all along to avoid the mixture sticking to the vessel). Wait for it to cool and then add four drops of peppermint essential oil. Refrigerate it. After a long day of hectic shopping just massage this on your feet and legs, and relax.

Anti-wrinkle lotion

Try this anti-wrinkle oil to banish those crow’s feet and laugh lines. Mix aloe vera gel and extra virgin olive oil (increase the ratio of olive oil if your skin is drier) and apply on affected areas. While the aloe vera will control the skin from the damages caused by the sun and rejuvenate it, olive oil adds moisture and elasticity to it. If you have very oily skin, apply just the aloe vera gel.
