OP, I agree that we get some relief if we share our emotional pain, but only to those people who really care/love, a true well wisher who is ready to listen/empathize. Else it will enhance our pain/backfire. May be talking to almighty or crying or praying may help than talking to people who dont care. Very nice analysis @SGBV . Sometimes, even being alone in our own world help us to heal better. This may vary from person to person.

Same with physical pain, when you are in severe pain ( if it is above > 7 in 1-10 scale, in my own experience), the whole world will stand still in front of you. You have no one to help. Even sharing will not help. Only you can understand it. There will be nothing other than pain. You don't recognize anyone. Finally you reach a neutral state where you dont care about anything, even death. Sharing wont help much with severe pain. May be for small discomforts it may.

Whatever it may be, I realized one thing. You are all alone. You came to this world alone and you go back alone. You have to face the pain alone and heal it alone. No one else can help beyond a limit.

I also agree in sharing but we should be careful to whom we share. Why share ur pain to everyone in the family or friends ? Select one or two persons.Recently I went to my Cardiologist & he after seeing the test results said everything clear from my angle. May be these are side effects of chemo. Then i complained about my sleep disturbance. i am having this problem for so many years not due to the disease. He said u consult ur Oncologist & then a Psychologist & take some anti depression tablets along with sleeping pills. The only i realized my fault.I am a very closed personality. I never share except minor problems. It is due to too much of consideration. Once if i say anything ill about my family members that can't be easily erased from others mind. In course of time things will change. But what i had projected about a person will not change.Even to my DH ,i will not share certain things as it will complicate the problem further. But after hearing doctor's advise , i made up a mind to share some of my pains, grievances at least to my close friend so that i may not hear such suggestions from a doctor. Now I regularly talk to her or send msgs. Sharing is important but with whom we are sharing is most important.

Well narrated on Pain. Yes, when we think we battled it the first time, second time is even more harder on us. But as the time heals in its own terms we learn our lesson. So true that pain must be expressed and it's also a fact that it may not be perceived as expected. If there's a go-to person then we are blessed. So whom you share with is very important. if they cannot understand our pain then there's a lesson. Apart from this Writing it out helps. Write it out and tear it away. Also, talking to a counselor is much much safer. If one can find a good one who knows our cultural aspects too it helps.

YEP... rightly pointed out. Time is the best healer they say, and the time given a right person while in Pain.

why do I think epidural on reading that?
When there are too many years' gap between the first and the second, what with fuzzy memory and already healed-up systems, the pain could indeed be worse, because we are older too.

Yes, we come alone and return alone to soil. But I don't assume you live in Himalayas? Do you? You live with your family. Perhaps you spend your birthdays and other occasions with your near and dear ones only. Don't You? Than why cant you let them know that you are in some kind of pain or trouble and let them help you.
If being alone and entering into chronic depression would be the solution and people won't commit suicide like flies everyday.

Well my apologies to all the ladies here.. If I'm hurting your emotions by suggesting that we can actually share our pains to our own people and get relieved.
    I'm so sorry! :worship2:
