In every age, people, specially the older generation bemoan the fact that human values are not what they were. They look back and wonder what life is coming to.And there are people who make us think that all that is good in life is disappearing.

But fortunately there are those hundreds and hundreds of people who show in small and big ways that Life is indeed wonderful.
Recently, when we were in Sofia there were so many people who went out of the way to help us find the way when we got lost while exploring the place, who helped us when we did not know what to,as we did not know the local language and it was hard to understand each other.

There was this sweet old lady we met on the bus, on our way to Boyana Church, some distance away from Sofia. We did not know where we had to get down. This lady was getting down at the same place to meet some of her friends. She showed us the way almost till the church and stood till she was sure that we had taken the right road. We felt so nice. She was still with her friends when we came out and we waved them a glad goodbye.

Then on the way back, we took the tram to near our hotel. We bought the ticket but did not know we had to punch them, there were no instructions or pictures to tell us that. After a few minutes, an inspector got in to check the tickets, when she saw our unpunched tickets she was adamant that we should pay the fine. :rant
We told her in sign language that we had just bought tickets and that we did not know that we had to punch them but to no avail.

By this time the other passengers started protesting on our behalf. One lady started to reason with the inspector but she was in no mood to listen. Then another man joined in, he was arguing with her, we could not understand a single word. When his reasoning failed he got angry and was literally shouting at her. Then the first lady took out two unpunched tickets from her purse, maybe the local people buy several at a time. The man punched them in the punching instrument fixed on the sides and gave them to us.The inspector was angry and kept saying something, then other inspector told her to stop arguing. She gave two unpunched tickets to the lady.

All the passengers were smiling and signed to us that everything was ok. :)The man got down before could thank him, but we were able to thank the lady. It was such a relief. It is difficult when people cannot understand each other.
Anyway,we not only got to see a beautiful place but also came across such helpful people. They have made our visit so much more memorable. We may forget the place after many years but such people are always a part of our Life.

They make life so much more beautiful.:thumbsup

Sometimes such a trip itself is etched in to our memory forever, just because of those sweet strangers who helped us. Isn't it LakshmiKMBhat?

Lets take a bow to those people
    Who help without expecting
    Anything in return. Such people
    Are rare and worth remembering.

    Thanks for sharing.
