    Dear nsareddy

During Karthika masam, the following can be done:
    1) One can fast on Mondays.
    2) Every day during the month, chant Shiva & Guari Ashtothrams.
    3) If you have access to Temples, On Mondays you can get Rudrabhishekam done.
    4) At home, one can read Karthika puranam during the month.

You can do which ever is convenient for you.

Even if you chant Om Namah Shivaya instead of doing all the above, that is also very good.

    Thank you Saras.

I also heard that lighting diya in front of tulasi before sun rise is good.

Is there any special procedure for that or any special sloka? please guide me.

    Dear nsareddy

Lighting diya in front of Tulasi during the dusk time (evening after sun set) is what i heard and we do whole of karthik month. We read Tulasi slokam or just pray Ishta daiva. Other than that sorry i am not aware.

Keeping 2 diyas in front of the house with til oil during dusk time is also another custom we follow.
