    Hello Friends...
I have been using stove top waffle iron (made from iron) to make savory waffles with dosa batter until it got bad and despite several attempts I could not revive it back to its original state.Using a non stick waffle maker is a big no as I like to keep my kitchen free of any toxic cookware. Can someone please suggest a healthy waffle maker?

Try with rava-dosa (more watery) batter.... and follow this video.

A rava(sooji) batter is easy to make in a small cup, or a bottle, for try-outs in making one or two waffles. The waffle-dosa lifts off when it is crispy, and Rawa dosas are always crispy, unlike rice-urad dosa's which may or may not be, and could cause lift-off issues. And besides rawa dosa batter can be poured onto the HOTTEST tawa surface, no need for temperature controls like other rice based dosa, oothapam, batters, and does not char and turn black when it is let go a little longer; rawa dosa batter is totally novice proof.

Google and find your favorite rava (rawa?) dosa batter mix. I like the batters with a little butter milk added in.

Here is Sanjay Thumma ooohhhing and aaahhhing about his Rawa Dosa...
    Note the key lessons:
    1. No need to control the heat of your waffle iron
    2. add finely chopped onions for making your cast iron waffle iron into a nonstick surface.
    3. keep the waffle iron surface HOT when you pour in the batter

Make a batter in a wide mouth stoppered bottle (pickling jars in America are ideal), because it is easy to shake, open the lid, and pour into the waffle dimples.

Here is a demonstration of HOW novice proof can a rawa dosa be...
It is poured onto a tawa, and pretty much ignored for a long time...
and it does not get over browned at all...

    :hello:Thanks for the technology transfer.
    2. Excepting regular dosa dough ie groundedrice & ulund, rest of dosa making remained tricky. I trained in vain pourin dough of rava dosa which little later turned out to be scrambled to several odd pieces resembling world map.
    Thanks and Regards.

I once followed his recipe. But wasn’t satisfied. Rava dosa turned out thick.
It could be due to rava too. Which brand do you recommend?
