    Hi Paulina ,

I am not aware of that song....but have heard of that bird...

When ever that bird is mentioned, I think of australian cricket....because I first came to know about it through that...they used some ball by the name kookabura ball.
It was only then that I came to know , there exists a bird by that name in Australia.

But you have thrown so much light on the life of that bird..Bow
They have a rather long life time considering their size..hee hee.
good to know about their care for their nest and parents...

And thanx to our Queen for the extra information and the pictures of the bird.
I too would love to hear that song...

    Bye

    Dear Saraswathi,:hiya

Glad to know you liked the Kookaburra write up.

But, this is new NEWS for me and others too I'm sure about the Aussies calling a particular ball in cricket a Kookaburra ball ! I always thought the Kookaburra was only a figment of imagination till I read up about it.The pictures posted by Aruna are so beautiful.somehow I had pictured it bigger and sort of brown like an eagle !! And look at the cute little bird here.

We used to sing the song in school.Aruna has posted the link to hear it.
In our days we only knew the first verse !

    Thanks for your reply
    warm regards

    Aruna Habibi,

Happy to know that you visited the Australian site and heard that song.
Thanks for sending the link to Saraswathi too.Actually in school I knew only the first verse and tune.It is quite a long song as you've seen These days I sing it to my dog Romeo as I chase him to retrieve something he has grabbed from mE! Usually the chase is around the dining table.I don't know how and why but this song stuck in my mind after all these years! Its like the Row Row row your boat ,Gently down the stream... song.
Thanks a ton for all the lovely pictures....I imagined it to be much bigger. It has such vivid colours too.

    warm regards
