    Dear Ilites,

I am writing this snippet after watching the wonderful Republic Day Event telecast in Doordarshan this morning. I felt that I should share this thought of mine without any delay.

As parents you have a duty to be performed this day! It is just once a year and I hope there won't be any qualms about it.

All parents, please make your children watch the Indian Parade either taking them directly to see if you stay nearby or in Television. This is will imbibe
patriotism in their minds from this young age and they also get to know
the Indian culture and heritage that the event showcases. You will be
surprised to know the kind of defense aids that we have for our beloved
country during this event. All parents make it a point you make the
young generation watch such events, if it not this year...next
year.....and year after year. Not to miss, even your patriotism gets its escalation.

It was a soulful moment to watch father of Shri KLVSSHNV Prasad Babu
(Andhra Pradesh) who sacrificed his life for the country receiving the
Ashok Chakra Award. Mother of Prasad Babu though was proud to receive
the award could not hide her tears when her son's brave incident was
narrated.  The country is proud to have such sincere citizens! What else
to say! Here is the link for Ashok Chakra honor:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esv1BCJV16k

The camera focused the related personalities when the state-wise performances were going on in front of the President dais. Involuntarily their faces and limbs showed their affinity for their states. You just cannot escape from this feeling.

You could see a proud face in him, when the Hon'ble President received all the honors of the defense forces and cheery face when the cultural events were performed.

Patriotism is a great feeling and only this feeling keeps saving our nation whenever there is crisis, miss-happenings, disaster and danger. Love is unconditional and as everyone knows you cannot hide it. The same way Patriotism (love towards your country) cannot be hidden. It just comes out when there is a need and unites us all! Jai Hind!

    Dear Vanaja,
I have also watched the Republic day celebrations today. I really felt very emotional when I saw the people who shed their lives for saving others. It was very touching.

On the other hand It is sad to see our politicians vying with each other announcing freebies during every election to capture votes.

I remembered John F. Kennedy's inaugural address after he became president. I quote his words: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

Our children should be taught to stand on their own feet.
People should fight against corruption. They should make a vow not to give or take bribe. Each one should exercise their voting right and show the door to corrupt politicians.

This way we can show our patriotism.
    PS

    Dear PS,

Thank you for reading the post. The younger generation has the power to change the nation and as you said to show the doors to the corrupt politicians. But they need guidance and support and it should start from the home first. That is why I pointed out the duty of parents on such days. We can sow the seeds and make the growing land fertile. Rest all lie in their hands!
