    Hi All,

A small history of our TTC journey here. We are in TTC since Nov 2015 and have one missed abortion to show for it.
My problem is PCOD(confirmed through scan) and hypothyroid . My periods are pretty much regular now with metformin and diet. Since things are not working out for us we feel we have to get some extra help now. My confusion now is should I meet a RE/Fertility specialist now or should I continue treatment with my Gynec only. My Gynec during my last cycle told me if things dont work out this cycle she may have to start inducing me from the next cycle. Today is my Day2 and I have to meet her with D3 scan if I am gonna start treatment with her.

Can you girls please help me out in this. Is there any difference in taking these treatments from a Gynec and fertility specialist.?If yes who is good for taking these treatments.?

If your gyne is competent enough then may be this time you can visit her. She must be familiar with your medical history.
Dear.....you are the best person to judge who's best for you..
If your gyne is competent enough...and has handled such cases effectively in the past...then nothing wrong in going back to her...
In the meanwhile...look for some really wonderful fertility specialist...just in case...God forbids...your gyne's not of much help to you.

Thanks @dc24 .As a gynec she is too good. When I first went to her I didn't tell her I am in TTC and I need help. It was only 8 months after marriage(we started TTC right after our marriage) and I went to her to regularize my periods. She gave me tablets for that which I believe also helped me in conceiving.

But after the abortion now I feel there is some other problem with me other than PCO. Now my periods are regular, I get OPK positive consistently around same days in my cycle. So I have the surge. But still things are not happening.
I want to go for a hormone profile test kind of thing to check if my fertility and my hormone levels are ok. But acc to my gynec those are not required. She just wants me to take a D3 scan and put me into clomid. All people I know who have gone through this have taken detailed fertility test before starting any treatment. So I am little worried now to start taking some treatment without analysis of what really my problem is :(

Ohhh...in that case...please talk to those who were having the same problem and now are being blessed with babies. You can also discuss about their fertility specialist..fees and othet expenses...duration of treatment etc

    Hi @svaac
I have not yet concieved and still struggling. I will tell you my experience. when we started ttc, we did the same thing and went to the gyne who was the best in our area. The reason we dint go to fertility specialist was because we were sure that they will start making money and will mislead us. Which now i think was wrong decision. After that gyne we went to the specialist. We observed that her way of thinking was completely different than the gyne. I would suggest ...don't rush into anything. Spend time in searching good doctor, then proceed for treatment. And trust is very important factor here. You need to have faith in your doctor. All the best!

Go to a good reproductive endocrinologist. They will do more thorough tests than the gyn.

    Hi @svaac ,
We faced the same problem. Sharing my understanding as per my experience.
You mentioned above about TTC from Nov 2014. I think it is a time for you now to see the fertility specialist since it has been more than a year of TTC. They can detect the obstruction through advanced methods and have a couple of options for you to get pregnant such as IUI or IVF.
    This is just my opinion.

Thanks Avanti30, M too feel the same. We have given time by now. But the thing here is initial 8/9 months of my marriage, I hardly got my periods some 3 times in that span. That too was kind of spotting, not very sure to consider it as periods or not. That is when we decided that I need to regularize my periods and I started seeing my Gynec. With her medicines and few other diet and exercise, now my periods are pretty much regular. So we are not very sure to consider those 9 months as trying because I didnt have anything called mensural cycle by then.
