    @Archanaanchan,

    When we are young, we are filled with a lot of love for everyone we come across. When mom lifts us to shower her love on us, we feel very elated and when dad returns home to shower his love, we again get excited. Even when a total stranger comes in and offer a candy, we take it with a smile. We have zero expectations other than someone to feed us when we are hungry. We never fail to learn something new everyday and keep trying to learn until we get it. We let things go as fast as we seek things. Building new friendship is exciting and continue to grow. The whole world is so exciting to us and is constantly expanding. Our life is filled with emulating the personalities we see in front of us. The whole world appeared to be nothing but love.

    As we grow, we build complex principles and values in our head and some of them conflict with each other. We begin to label people as good and bad as our judging capabilities improve. Our expectations about our capabilities and how others need to interact with us is sky high. We build skills to quickly identify the faults in others. We begin to think something, say another and do something else. We find hundred reasons for our failures but we think we are the only one responsible for our success. We need to be convinced of every good thing and we won't take the words of others for that. We are after possessing things that belongs to us and much more. As we fulfill one desire, we keep building others. We begin to select friendship that we prefer to keep. We prune our world to include ourselves, our family, close friends and a close circle of society. When our body grows and stops at a particular age, our ego continues to grow forever.

    Clean bowled @Viswamitra Vey well said!! I like the examples that you have taken to differentaite a childs mind and the adults:) It is true that as our rational thinking ability improves and we tend to judge people. Every person has selfish desires and some negativity :)

    A childs smile is a pure innocence but an adults is not........

    @Archanaanchan
    Growing up and growing old is a natural process and nobody can stop it.
    As we grow our expectations in life also grow along with us. We start forming opinions about people.
    We yearn for all good things, and at times some people try to use all means good or bad to achieve what they want.
    Those who master rational thinking do not get disappointed as they think of pros and cons before they start doing something.
    Happiness and sorrow, both are parts of life and we should try to take it equally in our stride.

    Archana dear true as we grow up we feel we should have been a a kid always because that time we are innocent and dont have any negative thoughts. As we grow up we change so much, we have to become responsbile, we become jealous of others , we compare ourselves with others etc. etc. It all depends on each one how they grow up . If we dont compare and be happy with what we have then no problem.

    I second what Viswa and Pushpa mami has mentioned.

    Growing up is never easy. You hold on to things that were. You wonder what's to come. But that night, I think we knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead to what would be. Other days. New days. Days to come. The thing is, we didn't have to hate each other for getting older. We just had to forgive ourselves... for growing up.

    Dear Pushpa ma'am
    What you've written is exactly what came through my mind as I read the opening post.
    Life is as good or as bad as we make our minds to be.
