Hi, Do you know that you can share a unique and warm relationship with your dhs grandmother? When I got married- Dhs grandma -the mother hen and matriarch of the clan made sure that we were (brides family) comfortable and served as a bridge betn me and my mil too... She was modern in her views and very compassoinate too.. What more- Even My mother cherishes the memories she shared with my grandfathers mother. That sweet old lady used to ask my mother to sit in a sofa right before my grandpa and grandma(moms ils)= considered bkasphemy and disrespectful during those days -1950s)" A dils legs are not made of wood" she declared the very first day itself and what more , she insisted her grandson and his new wife need their privacy and used to pack them off on vacations and to temples very often(unheard of in a joint family.) May be that is why she is fondly remembered by my mom even after 50 yrs after her demise!
What a broad minded lady in those days....she was? We really do need more of those kind of ladies now in the so called "modern society". Adara
Hey there..........Great thread!!! I do cherish this lovely relationship day in and out (TOUCHWOOD).My DH's granny stays with me.She loves me andmy DH very much and is sucha lovable lady. She is a retired hindi-pandit.A very warm and graceful person. Shes in her early 80's but talks our language and we have fun with her..Her way of looking at things are extremely broadminded and great thumbsup When DH is not in town...she is my solace.I respecther freedom and never cut her short....while she tells her old story of D-days... She respects my freedom and advices me only if absolutely necessary. I can go on and on about her....but let me stop. I cannot thank the great god enough to have sent an angel - thats is my granny-in law.I feel blessed "N" times...THANKYOU GOD!!!!!!!! I pray for her good health and spirits....every moment.
Thanx for the fbs, Adara and Aishu22. I think the chemistry betn the gmil and gdil is something fantastic bcoz the old lady now does not don the mantle of a formidable MIL but she plays the role of a doting grandma.
