Gossip!

Damodaran couldn't believe his eyes. Was he seeing Ramya, the star actress of the yesteryears now in that hospital? She looked very pale and was definitely affected by some long time ailment, he reckoned. And he pitied her too. For, she had been largely responsibile for him getting his salary for more than 3 years, as he had fed the magazines with gossips that ranged from juicy and preposterous to even about her exit from the industry.

Of course, we may not ask him how he got the exclusive information about her first. He protected the identity of his sources. And he went to meet Ramya that evening. They had a long chat and his expression changed from happy to sad to anger and pity in the end. She did not pay much attention to the fact that he was largely responsible for the gossips while she was at the peak of her career. Now that she was resigned to anything and anyone, she was just worried about her financial position and how much more she could survive.

The next morning, there was a gossip about her in the leading dailies in the entertainment section. It was about her meeting with a publisher to strike a deal for her autobiography. "It is expected that many ugly truths will be revealed!", it ended. Within days of that gossip, her interview was published where she made it clear that she had no such intention.

But she never had to worry about her financial position from then.
