hi, my sister is suffering from depression. does anyone have any idea which psychiatrist is good in hyderabad?
finally found one Dr. Naresh at Care Hospital, Musheerabad. He has started her on tablets and is doing counselling as well.
I was speaking to her regularly. She seemed to be pleasantly surprised after visiting him. She said according to him, Depression is like any medical illness. It is not caused by incidents like exam failure, marriage problems or relationship difficulties. She was relieved as she thought all along it was her fault. She also said according to the psychiatrist decreased motivation to do any activity, laziness, tiredness, unwillingness to get up in the morning, negative thinking, and not being interested to talk to others or avoiding social contacts and functions and depressed feeling are all symptoms of depressive illness, including decreased sleeping and not being interested to eat and also late night tv channel switching and goalless internet surfing. It seems the psychiatrist also mentioned that in contrary to the popular misbelief, people who visit him are not 'mad' and many are stigmatised. He also told my sister that the medication course is for 4-6months and people will not hooked to these medications. she said though the counselling and treatment is slow she is feeling better gradually. she spoke to me for length after along time.
She also told me about the difference between psychologists, clinical psychologists and psychiatrists. Psychologists have BA(psychology) or MA(psychology) or Phd and go on for teaching careers or work at HR depts and in organizations. Clinical Psychologists have BSC(psychology), Msc and Phd in clinical psychology and are trained to do psychometric tests and trained in psychotherapy to do counselling. The above 2 categories cannot and should not prescribe medications according to law. Psychiatrists are medical professionals(doctors) and have MBBS and MD(psychiatry) and are trained to see patients, prescribe medications and do psychotherapy and counselling. It was an eye-opener as I always thought all are same. Most of the people whom I see or read on media are psychologists.
Its good news. my sister has fully recovered. She said after the visits to the psychiatrist, most of her depression has been cured and now she feels occasionally tired, but thats ok compared to the suffering from near suicidal thoughts and severe depression which she had earlier before the treatment started. She is taking only 1 medication and the doctor asked her to continue the tablet for another 3-4 months after which she can stop all together. we are planning to visit tirupathi later this month along with our families.
I am in similar situation. Would you be kind enough to provide the medication/formula name and the dosage? Thanks.
psychiatric medication/formula should not be taken lightly. it should be taken under the doctors observation. go to a psychiatrist and get medication that he gives. don't under any circumstances take these medicines easily. Hansika
We are seeing a psychiatrist and following his medications. But i was just curious to know what was the prescriptions.
