    St. Isabel's Hospital

Does St. Isabel Hospital in Mylapore allow husbands in labor ward ?
How are the staff there (cooperative / rude) ?

    Re: St. Isabel's Hospital

I dont recommend Isabel as they dont allow husbands anywhere close to the labor / delivery or even the room you will stay overnight.

ALso they very strict disciplinarians and no room for flexiblity.

    Re: St. Isabel's Hospital

Thanks Dubbi, My problem is similar to that of Karuna's. I lost my first baby at 36 weeks (it was due to the doctors negligence that she detected/disclosed IUGR at the end of 35 weeks, and within 5 days I
lost my baby). Now that am consulting with Dr. Prema Krishnaswami
and she is very particular with St. Isabels. Does Isabel have NICU ?

Re: Anyone who recently had a normal delivery in Cradle Bangalore?

    Ladies,

I am due in Jan'10 and very keen on a normal delivery - do share your experience at Cradle.

BTW, I am currently consulting a Gynaec at Apollo ...but I am not sure of their track record for normal deliveries.

Waiting anxiously for your replies :)

    Re: St. Isabel's Hospital

    Yes, it does.
But I would also rather not recommend Isabel. Their other departments come very well recommended, but... I know of a couple whose child - born vaginally, latched on and breastfeeding within 30 min - was forcibly taken to the NICU when there was no medical need. The mother of course alone, had to call her husband from work, who had to call the doctor, who then went to the hospital to see why the child needed to be admitted to NICU. There was apparently a mix-up in the room numbers.
The staff expect to be tipped heavily and are pretty rude. The last bit mentioned is my experience, when a friend was hospitalised after an accident...You need to know the doctor on first-name basis to get any work done there. I happened to know the surgeon and so some of my friend's problems got smoothened out.
I think there is another thread about docs in Chennai who are good at high-risk deliveries. Do look it up if you do decide not to go to Isabel. Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy.

    Re: Good Gyn

hi, Dr. Nirmala is very good. She visits Apollo First Med, PH ROad, Kilpauk. It is far...but the doc is worth it. She is very kind and helpful. I've no words to describe my feeling for her....she has saved my life......and has given me this new life.
