    Hi,

As my wedding is fast approaching, i got these questions popping up.
Asking to get tests done by other person is definitely a breach in trust.
But wanted to know your take on getting a clean certificate from both of us, by getting tested for all major STD's.

Because i know a couple in 90's, who got married and ended up transferring STD which was life threatening.

I am kind of panicked about this aspect. What do you say, regarding getting tested before marriage. I mean both of us. Is it correct?

I am very sure that basing the decision upon responses from a forum is not correct.:)

    It is correct....

But there is no surefire way to ask without hurting feelings......

My advice would be to get HEALTH insurance before popping this question.......

You live by the sword and you die by the sword........ He he he.....

Please get both of you get tested. Sometimes a person may get disease from dirty needles from doctor's office, or poor sanitation, not from "morally loose behavior".

Better to ask and have the other side call off the wedding than have the wedding and feel sorry later.

Same goes for pre-nup, you just don't know with people nowadays.........

Hi, venu, I am not sure any Indian parents will give their daughter for marriage , if somebody asks this question to them.

Rather than STD it would be better if you went in for premarital screening like blood group incompatibility, gene testing etc,,,And i feel no harm in getting tested for STD's pre maritally if you & the guy mutually agree.Ask him separately & put your concern. If he is genuine he will agree.

One unmarried guy asked me such question to get tested. I am divorcee though. I was quite offended but i replied him saying "get his sperm tested first then i shall think of myself"

i am not advocating half a million disease testing-few ones like blood group incompatibility, hemophilia, thalassemia where it helps-You mean if someone knew he had hemophilia-hid it,got married& had a son who suffers disease should hide the fact???people are now more aware-Hivpositive marrying hiv positive,Early diabetics marrying similarly are seen now-No need to hide now & repent later!

Lakshmi, i mean to say testing from both ends. I will never ask only her to get tested.
    It should benefit both.

The best solution is you can approach him directly without knowing to your parents and explain the situation properly and both of you should go in person together to conduct the test.

A perfect gentlemen will agree with you and walk to hospital.

I am sure both parents will not accept for this.
