I have some dahlias potted and sitting in the garage. I am not seeing sprouts yet and I can hardly keep myself from pulling each one out and checking.

I transplanted the first set of seedlings from the seed starter into small containers today - Sunfinity sunflowers that claim to have a long blooming season. I am skeptical, but hope to be proven wrong!

I came home to seven deer calmly checking out my yard. They are in the neighborhood but we have never seen them around our street till now. I'm afraid that I'm just preparing a tasty buffet for them now. Gah!

It's easy to create a small basement greenhouse if you're into gardening. Try using grow lights for starters. :)

 BTDT It's infuriating! A couple years ago, we came home to find all our tulips had been beheaded.

We've been using deer repellent ever since. It doesn't work consistently but it helps.

I have three cheap shop lights setup on a cheap plastic stand. (Do you detect a theme?) Made do with it last year. This year I have not given any thought to the setup so I am continuing with the same.

I looked at proper grow lights and stands and heat mats last year when I started gardening but they were expensive and did not have particularly good reviews anywhere I checked.

Do you have any recommendations for stands/grow lights? I might invest in a better setup next year.

My friend has a bunny problem. They don't leave anything, it's no fun.
    Good luck!

A cheap stand works just fine. I started with an old bench ... and then it took over my life.

I'm not sure what you mean by shop lights. Get proper grow lights. The LED ones do a good job.

Talk to the folks at your local nursery about what would be best for your zone.

HappyBunny, it's not nice to call your cousins a "problem." :smilingimp: :p
