    @kkrish,

Thank you for your comprehensive response and complement for the snippet. I feel humbled. I am not raising the bar and actually stating the truth about how I feel about your writings.

Some of the writers are specialists in writing humorous snippets. Cheeniya Sir, Meenashankaran and many others are exceptionally good. Writing a humorous snippet is always hard and it comes naturally to a few.

Easy to follow - When the readers enjoy it, the satisfaction of writing doubles. The snippets are not thesis but some structure and conscious effort to simplify makes it easier to read.

Communication - My thought on this always is "communication is to express and not to impress". However, keeping the interest of the readers alive, making them grip to the main theme and leaving the article with wanting to read more are great goals to have. If communication is satisfying, receiving responses that adds value to the post is even more satisfying.

Thank you for sharing what remained in your mind for a long time in a book. Thank you also for adding many writers' posts I enjoy reading but failed to mention their names in my original post.

Structure around thoughts, developing thoughts into words, commitment to write and enjoyment of writing are all essential ingredients. Watching others also helps how to communicate better. There is no end to learning something new everyday.

Write down half-baked thoughts in an app when my phone is like an open book for kids and all? Why would I do that.. : ) I do have a code language though I rarely use it to note down any thoughts to be translated into writing later. It is for things I want to tell a friend in next chat or call. Sometimes, later the code is too cryptic for me also, and both the friend and I end up spending time in deciphering it. : )

Find time. Make time. They say if one really wants to do something, one will find the time. That is true.. But also true is that when something means a lot, we want to do it in or with a certain ambience present in the mind, day and around. Like an artist?

Here's my uninspiring take on finding time to write original posts (thread starters) or responses. Men have more time or more ability to make time. Women, especially those with non-adult children, are hard-pressed to find time. I admire those who make the time. I guess many of our fiction writers here are women with young children.

Done is better than perfect, is my experience. It has been years since I put real thought into any writing that was not going to be graded. Meaning I do pay attention to the content, but not to the presentation.

Honestly Viswa, if the intent is to increase the number of writers, then why list so many arduous steps about the process. Reading what all is involved makes me want to go back and take a mid-morning nap. : )

Not sure why Laks is favorite while I am famous? :confundio1:

    Dear kkrish,
I totally agree with you on this. While it is good use a certain standard of words, if one goes too technical or bombastic, I just feel like tossing the book aside. Yeah, for select audience, one could use such complicated language. Language is basically a tool for communication, and that point shouldn't be missed in general writing. Also, while some inadvertant errors are okay, writing with too many errors is a big put off.

Thanks for counting be as a reasonable writer. I am honored!

Do I need to give a reason for this in public domain? Okay. If you insist, here we go. You @Rihana famous for making so many threads run into several pages and eventually contributing to close one :BangHead:. Aren't you famous? @Laks09 is favorite for sounding happy always, not complaining about lack of time and providing some invaluable contributions that resonated with me and helped me learn something new.

Is this your next excuse? It is just sharing of thoughts and not a rule of law for everyone to follow. Frankly, such guidelines are good to have, if someone likes structured activities (not specifically written for you).

I am not sure of such speculations after the responses @yellowmango received for her prediction that she could guess whether the posters have boys or girls as children from their responses in Relationship Forum.

Your writing down your thoughts in a cryptic language which you find it hard to decipher later is equivalent of @Srama keeping things in a safe custody to find it later as mentioned in her latest snippet.

    My dear Viswa

I am odd person among the great writers. I never follow any rules while writing.Whatever comes to my mind I put in writing. I don't even read again before posting. So no question of writing.

While in school I never knew to write essays. I used to go through essay books and write from them. But I was so surprised when my Hindi teacher used to like my essays in Hindi and told me you go to college after Xth and you will get scholarship. But we were not financially well so could not go to college, otherwise also in our days girls were allowed to study only up to Xth
I was very good in byhearting, so never used to understand the meaning.Somehow scored 63percent in HSC. Those days that was a great thing. My son is a good writer
During school days he used towrite poems and stories. I even used to order books from Australia how to become a great writer.

Somehow through IL wrote so many snippets and glad won award too.

Thanks @krish for mentioming my name among great writers.I am honoured. This is more than an award

    Sorry for the long post

Forgot to mention thanks for the awesome post and the tips. It will take time for me to remember

Viswa, you are not helping yourself. When in ditch, stop digging. : )

No Sir, I did not cause the thread to close. I posted a single line comment in another thread. Still haven't figured out how the reactions turned out to be what they did.

All jokes aside, thanks for this snippet. You took the time to compose your thoughts and write it, really appreciate it. Like I once said earlier, the discipline you bring to writing is something I one day hope to emulate a little.

I was just kidding. I know you don't do anything to do moderator's job i.e. to close a thread. I assigned the value "famous" for making any thread explode into several pages by commenting on it. "Closing a thread" is an after thought addition to pull your leg, as you always win that "pulling the leg" battle.

Thank you for your kind words and I consider myself humbled by your words of appreciation.

But even if I try, I don't think I would succeed how to make a thread explode the way you do. :)

    @Adharv,

Thank you for your response and kind words. Mind and thoughts are like wallet and credit card/currency except they disappear unless you save it in a note. Don't hesitate to write and you never can assess your potential unless you begin writing. When I started writing in 2012, I was nervous too. What I mentioned here is just a guideline and not necessarily a rule, as mentioned above.

    Dear Viswa,

your snippet is a good beginners guide for all those aspirants who are raring to be writers and do not know the way of going about it. I have been writing for quite a few decades, but still I struggle to convert my feelings, thoughts into appropriate words, because of my lack of basics for a strong vocabulary.
I can relate easily about the incidents occurred in my life, and that way I am comfortable with my writing. But I never venture in to giving FBs of subjects about which I am not familiar with. But one thing about which I am very strict is editing. I read, reread, check for typos, syntax errors and then only publish it.
But with all the pains involved in giving birth to a piece of writing , when the response is very poor, it shakes the very confidence about your writing abilities. Krishna's Gita might have failed to educate us about karma, but IL is a forum where one can realize it immediately just after posting a write up.
