Also try giving dry fruit powder.
If your kid does not have nut allergy procedure is:
    Dry roast nuts like
    Cashew
    Badam/almonds
And powder them and store in airtight container.
A very small spoon per day.
If you want you can add small quantities of pista and walnut powder also.
They have slight bitter taste so add only little quantity.
These nuts are high in calories and rich in nutrients

    good luck

How about satu maavu kanji made with milk?It is full of protein and iron.Definetely you can see weight gain in a week.

If your daughter likes nendhran pazham, steam the slices in a idly cooker and mash and give.It increases weight.

Any fruit given in juice form together with milk (milk shakes) help in weight increase.

    Hi,

I gave the following things to my DD for weight gain.

    1. Egg - thrice a week.
    2. Oats+milk+raisins+almonds+banana (this combination cooked and grind in mixer for breakfast. Keep changing the fruits sometimes.
    3. Rice+dal+2 veggies+ghee (This combination for lunch varying the veggies). If she doesnt finishes her egg i mix it with rice.
    4. Ragi+dates (for dinner with some fruit puree)
    5. I also give her 1/2 cup plain curd as a snack either in the morning or eve)
    6. Breastfeed or Milk at night before sleep.

I have followed this meal planner and succeeded in gaining her weight. give her 3 full meals and 2 snacks everyday. Write it down in a paper everyday meal plan. This will help you to see how much she is eating everyday. she may not eat 5 times a day initilay. You can make her eat 5 times gradually.

    Thank u Dibu,

Meal Plan written down is a very good idea, it will help a lot since i have an elder child and no helping hand at home.

As of now, i am giving her 3 full meals and 1 evening snack, but morning after bath she sleeps for 2 to 3 hrs, so i may have to adjust the timing to fit in one more snack time.

Anyway thanks a lot....for the suggestions and ideas...will try to work out a meal plan for the LO.

    Dibu,

i have a doubt on the 2nd point, are almonds to be soaked before cooking? Also, Point no 4. Ragi powder can be used? or should whole ragi be ground with dates?
Also egg do you give whole hard boiled egg or only the yolk?

    awaiting your reply,
    Thanks in advance

    Hi thejasree,
My son is 15 months and started giving him dry fruits puree to gain weight. If you like you can try this. I soak some dry fruits in the water for whole night and first thing in the morning i blend them and feed to my son . I think this helps alot because dry fruits are hard to chew for babies and in this stage they start teething. .....Ashwini
