While doing the weekend shopping, i found a pack of flaxseed packet. Read something about omega-3 goody goody from it so i bought a few packets.

Now, how am i to consume this thing?

I am thinking about soaking it overnight and consume it raw tomorrow morning. Kindly post some simple and easy methods to consume this thingy.

PS: i don't make weird faces when something tastes odd.

You can have a tsp of it as it is.

You can also powder it and add it to your food, like dal sambhar etc.

Just make sure you chew them properly if you are having them whole.

So i can soak it and consume it raw in the empty stomach and gulp down the water too?

Hehe btw i don't make complicated things like sambhar. Rice and dal will cook together. Saves time, LPG, etc.

No need to soak them, neither do you have to have them on an empty stomach.

Just have a tsp along with your regular food, anytime during the day. Even with rice and dal, its ok.

Hmmm......so sambhar is a complicated thing to cook?... Can't believe this is coming from someone who comes from south :)

I did soak it just now. Google says they will become sticky when they swell. Well. Let me check in the morning.

Yes, Sambhar is somewhat......... anyway i consume all the ingredients in sambhar in some other way, so nutrition wise no complaints about that.

Someone told me it is very good for health, especially hair. So I started eating just like that - like a teaspoonful of sugar. Just put it in my mouth and wash it down with water. However, not sure if it is related, but some months thereafter had an issue with my monthly cycles and read somewhere flaxseed can create problems at which point I discontinued eating this stuff.

    Hi nemesis,
My sister had flaxseed everyday during her pregnancy for omega 3 in food... She boiled it with milk and added sugar, pepper for taste... But she said its too sticky and have no good taste... Anyways, her in laws compelled her to eat everyday and she had it too...

Throwing in a home remedy using flax seeds:

If you get something in your eye that you cannot get out, put a dry flax seed under the lower lid and leave it. It will get sticky and the foreign body will stick to it and then remove the flax seed.

I read somewhere that heating flaxseed reduces it's nutritional value. I was thinking of adding flaxseed powder to roti dough, dal, rice, sabzi etc in daily cooking....not sure if it will still give the same benefit as without heating them.anyone has any idea
