Finest Posts of Indusladies - Comments, Feedback and Suggestions

I have a doubt. Please clear me with this.
I had nominated one of the post for "Finest Post-January 2013". But it's not acknowledged by the moderators. Does it mean my nomination is not considered?

Why do I feel that there is favouritism when someone nominates someone else's thread? I may be wrong ( so correct me), I don't see many males winning the finest post.

It is always certain group of members nominating certain other groups and vice versa. I have seen many good posts but no one nominates them, but not so good posts are nominated because they are senior members on IL.

I am not referring to anyone in particular. Maybe I am wrong in feeling this way. Maybe I should just keep quite because this is Indus LADIES forum so there should be only female winners perhaps?

Someone can clear my doubt?

I also think "number of likes" to a certain post plays an important role in recommending someone's post. But if a male posts something, his number of likes will never match if a female posts something.

Instead of complaining, how about nominating those and bringing them to the attention of others. I get to know many wonderful posts because they get nominated.

I am glad you posted this query here. You don't need to 'dare' when expressing a genuine concern. If there is no open dialogue, some issues may never get clarified and some myths too will continue to persist! Unless your post is vicious or you are targeting someone personally or breaking the etiquette rules of IL, you will not be randomly banned for expressing your doubts!! Rest assured.

As in real life, here too one member may prefer a certain member's writing style or posts. It is also possible they have come closer as friends on and off line. It is her/his prerogative, how can we object to that?

Let me confirm your doubt, you are certainly wrong on that issue!! Many of our male members have won the Finest Post of the Month several times in the past. I remember announcing at least twice or thrice the winning posts where both the Finest Narration and Finest Contribution was won by males..Two males in the same month!! I would advice you to check the index list of FP forum and assure yourself of this fact!!

You may be partly right here. As said above, certain members strike friendship and it is a natural human instinct to react to a post when written by a particular friend. Just because they get nominated will not assure them a win though!

This is where YOU can step in and make a difference!! I don't remember you nominating any posts to FP?!? If I am wrong, please correct me. Even while opening this month's nomination thread, I made a special mention of this and invited more members to nominate. It is always a few regular patrons of FP who keep nominating posts again and again. What about all the other members who seem to enjoy being on IL and reading various inputs? Why don't more step in and nominate the posts they think was good. How about you starting to do that from now on? Be the person who makes the change!

You are once again right, this is IndusLADIES forum. Hence we have lesser male members as many males may not be aware that they too can become members here. So, there lies the root cause of lesser male members winning FP or any other contests open in IL for there are fewer male members. Also, I would like to state here that after winning FP of the Month, we try not to select the same member's posts for winning for at least a year's duration in spite of the member receiving overwhelming nominations. Ofcourse there may be exceptions on very rare occasions. This is to encourage fresh writers and their talents! Anyways, a winner is a winner and to be nominated in FP forum itself makes them a winner! Obviously, this will further result in lesser male winners!
Apart from these statistical facts, there is no discrimination of any sort, please be assured of that!
Actually, some of the great writers of our forum are our male members without any doubt. I shall not take names as they are all very well known to all of us!
