Wow! What a month this has been! I simply love how nominations have just poured in this month ….. and it wouldn’t be inaccurate to say I have been spoiled for choice! Thanks a million, dearest friends for bringing in the nominations thick and fast. While it has been normal to get a lot of nominations from snippets, the last two months have shown a marked increase in the number of nominations from other forums as well. Notable is the fact that there are more threads and posts being nominated from the ‘General Discussions’, ‘Education and Personal Growth’ and ‘Queries on Religion and Spirituality’ forums as well. It certainly has not been easy selecting winners this time around. We have our veterans who doubtless provide us with our regular dose of fun, satire, food for thought and what not. Not just the ‘garcons et filles’ (boys and girls) but all the ladies and gentlemen here would be ‘clean bowled’ with tales of ‘jab we met’ and trysts with teachers. The temptation to select such posts is very high. If one did not hold oneself back, they would keep winning every month. Some of these members have also mentioned categorically that they do not want to be nominated or awarded the prize as they want newer and deserving members to find their place in the sun. While this is a fair point, I do not think this should stop their threads from being nominated, for the simple reason that members often choose what they want to read from the nominations in the FP forum. Threads which are so outstanding should not be missed by anyone. Now it’s time to get down to the important business of selecting the winners of this month. I don’t like to keep people hanging like they do in all those shows on TV where they take an hour or more to come to the point. All of us face crises at some point in our lives – be it financial, personal or health. The ability to raise oneself from the shambles, dust oneself off and face life squarely is what defines a person of character. Blackbeauty84 is just such a strong person. Having gone through what she has, she has not only pulled herself together and re-built her life but she has shared her experience with practical tips for those who are in a similar situation. That takes enormous strength and maturity. My Story of Rebuilding Myself Post Divorce is, therefore, being selected for the Finest Narration of the Month. I take this opportunity to congratulate her once again for her courage and to wish her and her husband a very happy journey together. If there is one important lesson to be learnt from the real-life stories we read on these forums, it is this: Women must learn to be independent. Financial independence is extremely important for every woman. A person who is capable of running a home should be capable of running her own business as well. Not an unreasonable expectation on the face of it. However, life is never so straight forward, leave alone business/enterprise. What are the aspects a woman needs to take into account if she plans to start a business of her own, especially a franchise? Sunburst has highlighted all the important considerations when making this decision. Her post in Should One Go the Entrepreneur Route? gets the Finest Contribution of the Month award. Heartiest Congratulations to Blackbeauty 84 and to Sunburst from the FP team. This post would be incomplete without heartfelt thanks to Mistt, teenulahari, Balajee, Rihana and Shanvy for bringing these brilliant contributions to the FP forum. Once again requesting you to bring them on!
