Thanks for the nomination Preeti. Started reading the story today and read a few episodes. It will take me a few days to finish and I am looking forward to that. The story sounds interesting and am sure there will be lots of interesting twists and turns. IniyaaSri is quite some writer to write such a long story. So we have a budding authoress amidst here.

I love Shyamala's response. It is so balanced, though I do not disagree with HariLakhera either. Favourite son or favourite daughter ..... it is hard to generalize, but one thing is for certain. I have heard it said "onne onnu, kanne kannu" or the only child is extremely precious. Two are no less precious, but the sad outcome is often that for all the reasons listed by Shyamala, kids these days are a highly pampered lot.

Of course, every generation thinks the same about the next one when they compare with their own times.

China is witnessing the phenomenon of 'Little Emperors' thanks to the only one child policy. Most families prefer to have a son and then spoil him rotten because he is the only child. The world needs to find a balance and learn to look at human beings beyond the gender. Then there will not be any inequality other than those already decided by Nature.
