Sumi, so you had made an interesting analysis of this month. The reasons which I feel that makes it sound dull could be due to :-

1. Children who merried till January become serious and prepares for their final exams (no fun)
2. parents keep worrying about the exam more than the children, run behind them saying study, study
3. Winter comes to an end
4. No declared public holidays
5. Month for expense (buying gifts) - children asking for more pocket money (to gift their valentine)

Valentine day :- I think it is created with a hope that atleast a day dedicated for love will make (remind) husbands utter the long forgotten word 'Love you' to their wife atleast once in a year (which they used 'chant' when newly married).

I too like this month very much because it gets over quickly.
