Hi friends, I am having 1.5 lack thinking to save this for future. Which one is good FD in ICICI or investing in golds. Currently gold rate is increasing day by day... If any other option is there to get better return with this money in future please give some idea. My dh invested 1 lac in icici fd and current value is 1 lac four thousand .
u must first check the % of ur savings in the form of FD is more than that of gold or vice-versa. If u are having enough gold in ornament form and go for coins as investment option. Bank FDs' are useful when u need cash immediately (hassle free cancellation and take ur money). I having been listening to this kind of opinions from my parents and hubby, so just thought of sharing it with u.
Both of them are good. If FD matures you will buy Gold with higher price ( surely more than the interest rate earned), so it is better to buy Gold now (ornament) and use the same at least to get a pleasure
PPF will have a lock-in period of 15 years not sure if you can wait that long and it is not advisable for one time investment. I would suggest you to go for Gold ETF mutual funds or Gold savings fund. Read on internet for more. or you can also invest in some good mutual funds as one time investment or start SIP. Make sure your investment is diversified
PPF - Retruns -8-9%. Lockin Period 15 yrs. Advantage is compounding interest and Safe/Secure. Physical Gold- Can use as ornaments and funds will be locked since no one will ready to sell the ornaments untill there is pressing need. You can buy Gold coins, which will attract again 1% charge. Gold ETF : Its for purely investment. Gold investment Returns will be always higher and need to check the prices regularly. The current market rate for 24ct is rs.3000 approx, where as the price was 1600-1800rs in 2008-2009. approxly 50% retruns in 4 yrs.
