This morning I am posting a song by another great composer, Purandradasa, known as the Pitamaha (Great father) of Carnatic music.
Sri Purandaradasa introduced the systematic teaching of carnatic music and organized the basic lessons swaravali varisai, jantai varisai, and alankaram. He also introduced Mayamalavagowla as the ragam in which these lessons were to be practised.
The reason for choosing Mayamalawagowla is that the swarams Ga-Ma, Pa-Dha, and Ni-upper octave Sa, come next to each other on the Veena which was the main accompanying instrument in his times. This positioning helped little children learn the basics on the instrument with ease.

I start with the homage to Ganapathi.
