Keeping a counter of all read posts so the IL member need not have to go through already read posts. Like 42 new 52, this means 42 are read post and 10 posts are new. I hope you are getting my point. They have this feature in BabyCentreCommunity. Which increases the user experience in a positive manner.
There is the "view first unread" link right on top above the first post on the page. That takes you right where you want, I think. Does that do the job?
