Rahul was the only son of Rajesh and Kalpana . Rahul was a studious boy in 10 th standard. Board exam was 6 months away.he goes to tuition to improve his test taking skills along with school. His school and the tuition will take another two months to complete the entire syllabus. Now he is giving tests in tuition and school. His parents want him to be state topper (or at least district or school topper) , so he has a busy schedule from 4 am. 4 to 5 his self preparation , then 5 to 6 math tuition, 6 to 7 science tuition , 8.40 to 4 pm school. After coming home , 1 hour rest, no sports(he is good in cricket), no music, no good movies or comedy in tv. So he is busy and his parents are happy to see him study untill 8 pm, by 9 o clock , he sleeps . But he was feeling anxious and stressed. His parents thought he was happy trying to score top rank. But he was stressed . he longed to play for sometime. Suddenly one day Rahul could not get out of the bed. His left side of the body has become like stone. He could not speak. His mom came to ask him to wake up , she saw the dreadful sight of her son's mouth leaned and not straight. She cried a lot. Didn't know what to do. His dad too came and they rushed to hospital and found out that their son was having stroke. Doctor told it can be caused due to stress. Now he was hospitalized for 2 months with high quantity of medicine, specialised doctor, kalpana's prayer, Rajesh's voluntary donation to orphanages and old age homes, trust for psychologically ill people , Rahul was 60 percent recovered. Now their parents want him to just become healthy. They have hope. Hope it happens
a moving gripping tale that produces some kind of aplomb and harmony. thank you for the nice narration.
Teenagers now a days are suffering with peer pressure and lots of stress. And most of the time it results in degradation of their physical and mental health. India should change the education system so that parents won't create an immeasurable pressure on their kids.
Harsh reality! Nowadays most of the parents want their children to get into IIT/IIIt/NIT's etc.Children are shown that only this is the way to success in life. I personally know a kid who was put into IIT coaching right from 6th standard. He wasn't allowed television or outdoor playing. Only studies...and studies. And then put into a corporate college for his 10+2.He was intelligent and succeeded in getting into IIT but he hardly communicates with anyone. He cannot stand a group of people in front of him, he gets nervous easily.Never speaks a word.He has no friends and whenever any relatives visit their house he hardly comes out of his room.He is confined only to his books. Now he has joined IIT in a different city in fact state. He is finding it very difficult to cope up because of his nature. He is unable to study and his grades are dropping. He eventually wants to come back home. I just want to ask one thing - What have the parents achieved by this? And the poor kid?
one can't be sure with strict regimen of studies one would reach the pinnacle of glory forsaking 1. meeting hobnobbing with friends (development of mind) depriving meeting relatives, cutting off shopping and socialising experience 2. failure to have friends and enlarging it 3. physical development amd health issues 4. sedentary life style and becoming reticent leading to deficiency, lacking in quick response or reacting to situation, a crisis 5. not learning to be street smart and outwitting others All these skills are not taught in one go in any prescribed text book. after spending so much of effort money one is not sure to get admission into IIT.
Its very true, its not only education system, also mind set of parents needs to be improvised. Even in my school days we had a class topper who later on committed suicide after his 12th std board exam. Reason being his parents always criticized him whenever he scored less marks or percentage than his elder sibling (both of them were school toppers). Thankfully the siblings had good bonding and supported each other. Now our friend is no more.
Parents wanted the best for their child but the method was not correct . They think if their daughter studies well then it is attributed to AWAYS STUDY and no play. There are children who can keep on studying and love reading etc. There are children who are good in both sports and studies. Now they need both to keep them balanced. There are average children in both and excel in music or painting .so a parent should understand the interest of the child and work out accordingly by planning with Concern of the child.
In Amreeka the automobile license plates have a message/ motto on them. For example in NewHpshire it says "Live Free or Die". Some people put their opinions on a bumper sticker of the car. It might say "proud parent of _______". What could be a good bumper sticker sentiment for the hyper competitive India? How about "I'd kill for it" ? Or. "Better Dead than Dud" ?
