Hi ash_18, Shravanti, Shailaja, perfectly perfect

I am glad that you find the instructions clear. To answer the question that Shailaja has asked I am going to use the sequence of pics.

Gavanthi stitch is the simple running stitch done twice so as not to have gaps and is the 1st stitch on the matty cloth.

All other borders on the matty cloth are murgi or zigzag stitches.

In the sheets I have posted, you have 3 borders- simple zigzag stitch, border of pendants which is the one with the square above the gavanthi line and the last is the border of shells. This was also used in my purple sari.

The newly posted design has the betal nut flower in blue and the swan in green.

I will add the names of the designs as I post them in future and the place to start and the general direction. I used a olympus digital camera and took closeups

Happy embroidering and I will post more pics maybe on Monday/Tuesday.

    Regards
    Jayashree

    Hi Lakshmi and Nitya Prabha,

    Thanks for the encouragement.

There is no method of doing the designs quickly and my teacher is in Bangalore but keeps travelling so wasnt taking class at the moment. I will post the peacock but the chariot is in the advanced level. so might be difficult

    Rgds

    Hi

Here are some more designs for you

The 1st design sheet has a border of temple tanks and a border of shells. Pls note that in the border of shells you must complete the inner ring of the second shell before takinf the stitch in black and proceeding forward.

The second and third sheets have motifs

    1. Tiger's claw
    2. Pulse design
    3. Sesame flower
    4. Betal nut flower Repeated
    5. Cashew nut flower
    6. Floral design
    7. & * are variations of the cashew motif.
    9 Rudraksh flower
    10. Lamp of shells and betal nut flowers.

In all 4 sided symmetrical flowers except 1, 4 and 10 start the design in the centre and use 2 colours where indicated
In the lamp start the design in the centre line and work one half of the design and then return to the top and reverse and work the other side. Also the betal nut flower at the top is copleted on one side and then you can take the thread at the bottom to come to the point where the other flower begins so thst the gap shows on the right side of the work. That s jump from 1 to 2

Yr work must be the same on both sides to a large extent

So work the designs and get back to me with doubts

    Jayashree
