    hi meyyammai :hiya,
glad you like it and find it useful!
one thing i would like to tell you all: when you buy a garment with kantha on it, see that thre is no herring bone stitch in it- because it doesnt belong to the kantha family, where as it can be used in combination with kutch embroidery! and when you do kantha, try to incorporate all the diierent kantha stitches into it- wil look genuine and exquisite!

    hi vani :hiya,
you specificaly dont need kantha designs to do kantha- you can use normal embroidery designs and incorporate kantha stitches into it!
for eg., the blouse which i'm doing(display in the previous pg) kantha, the design is a regular embroidery design!
you can also use warli and madhubani designs to do kantha!

    Hi Su

Lovely sari. Cream and black is eyecatching always

I am uploading the pics for you of the sari that I mentioned. You could identify the designs if you for the others. This was done at Shantiniketan and I pd 2500 Rs for it

Yes beginners should use ctton tussar as it is easier to handle. Also maybe it should also be mentioned that the Kantha done in Shanthiniketan dont have Chamki work on them
