Hi Friends, Sharing with you all a recipe I tried this wekend and my DH loved it:thumbsup. I was really getting tired:bonk of the usual onion-tomato based red gravies. I have been browsing:confused2: various sites for a different type of gravy. So, this is my version of a Curd based chicken cooked on dum (slow flame) 500 gms chicken 1 cup curd whisked till very smooth a few cloves garlic 2 green chillies a small peice of ginger 12-15 almonds very finely chopped mint and coriander leaves salt to taste half tsp turmeric 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp curry powder 2 small onions finely chopped Grind to coarse powder - 2 green cardamoms, 4 cloves, half tsp shahi jeera Wash and clean chicken. Make oa very smooth paste of ginger-garlic-green chillis-almonds using a spoonful of curd. Add this to the whisked curd. Add all the dry powder spices, chooped mint and coriander and mix well. Now marinate the chicken in this for about 3-4 hours. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan. Saute onion till pink. Add the marinated chicken to this. Cover completely an cook on slow flame for about half an hour. Check if chicken is cooked. Lastly add curry powder and the rough ground powder and cover the chicken to let the flavours absorb. Check for seasoning. Serve with rotis. I hope you will try this simple recipe and let me know how it turns out! Thanks for stepping in...
Curry powder is just like any other spice powder. Am sure it is available everywhere. If you are not able to get it in Mumbai, then you can use Everest Kitchen King Masala.
