    Hi Esbanu,

Thanks so much for your feedback. My mom too gets mad at me and says I am insane when I convert sarees (and so does dh). But I much prefer using them than letting them lie unused in a corner, fray along the folds and get waste. So don't worry, your mother will slowly get used to the idea. :-D

It really depends on the pattern. It normally is for plain, straight lines. And if there is a problem, it can be sorted out by using a different cloth for the upper part of the salwar which is not visible. You can also make short sleeves, sleeveless or mega sleeves. It really depends on your tailor and how economical he is.

BTW ; this is completely off the topic, but I have been trying to figure out your avatar. What is it? I have been wondering if it is a cat. Correct me if I am wrong.

True Vijima, converted sarees look really good if one does it up with a little imagination - using the pallu to advantage, using buttis, border of the sarees etc. to make a plain georgette dupatta go with the suit etc. The only problem is that not all sarees look good converted to suits. I have converted a very beautiful embroidered saree to a ghagra choli. It could have done as a suit, but the beauty would have probably been lost. I shall be putting that up as well.

Very pretty design, Satchi and very true if you do not wear sarees then it is best to convert it into salwars suits.
I too converted my mom's pattu saree into a kameej and a coat with the rich pallu for my daughter some 10 years back.
I am attaching it and sorry for the bad picture quality because i have shot it from my cell phone as the one taken from my camera was not getting uploaded.
    Regards
    Shanta
