I just love this thread. My story - I had a dog while in school, which died due to old age. After that, it never crossed my mind that I would again raise a dog. But my husband was fond of raising a dog and I never let him. Because we both were working then and there was no one who could take care. My dh tried his best to convince me but failed. So, on Valentine's day 2008, he gifted me a puppy( How smart of him. He knew I wud never let him get a puppy home otherwise). When I saw the cute 28 days old puppy, I could never say NO, and it became an integral part of our lives there-after. It was a Labrador and very beautiful male puppy. We named him 'Bruno'. We regularly took him to doctor for vaccination regularly. I started doing night shifts to take care of Bruno. A puppy has very similar needs compared to a human baby. I fed him Cerelac around 6 times everyday until it was 3 months old. Then, fed him Weaning for the next 3 months. During this period, I slowly introduced him to rice and rotis. Me and my dh became parents eventually. We are very attached to the speechless creature. Yet, he understands everything. When my husband gets ready and leaves for work every morning, he would never bark or stop him. But once hes back from work, he never again lets him step out of the house without himself. Though I always fed him right from the beginning, he was pampered a lot by my dh. So, if dh is around, he wont come to me. But if I cry or am sad, he would instantly come to me and start licking my face(I have always been amazed by his quality of understanding when I am distressed or in sorrow). Bruno is our first son and will ever be. Just like its often said that bringing a baby into life reduces the fights and misunderstandings between husband-wife, Bruno did the same. Our arguments came down. Because we had something more important to take care of. He now understands Tamil, Hindi and English(as we speak all three languages at home). Just saying "Beach polama?" would light a spark in him and he would start jumping around and see you with expectations in his eyes requesting you to take him to the beach. ..............and I can keep going on and on. But considering the interests of the readers, I stop myself here.
Aruna, Bruno is sooooooooo sweet!! Please give him an extra treat from me: <a href=http://www.thesmilies.com><img src=http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/edible/cupcake.gif border=0></a>!
That is so strange. Bruno just harps on ice-cream, cakes....all sweets basically apart frm fruits & veggies.
Hello Vidya, :thankyou2: :biglaugh:biglaugh:biglaughYour dog is indeed super :thumbsup My 3 dogs : Ruby, Benji & Simba love Ice Cream, but Ruby is very health conscious - when she is sick or have fever, she does ask fr Ice Cream even if we have it!
Hello Aruna, :thankyou2: for sharing with us about your son - Bruno., this is the unique nature of dogs and I too have been amazed by this nature of them. :iagreewith you completely! It seems in a study, couples with dogs as pets were more understanding and affectionate to each other than those who did not have!:thumbsup Nope, waiting to hear everything about Bruno!
:iagreeHe seems super! Custard... you have 3 of them!! Man, that is so adorable... I can just imagine how much fun it is. I miss my dog who's back in India. When I talk to my parents online, and they try to direct the webcam to his face when I insist so I can see him, he seems to think its a funny game of them holding the ball but not quite willing to play catch with him. :crazy That reminds me, he has his own version of catch where we're supposed to throw the ball, he is supposed to go for it, but then he is supposed to run away with it, while we're supposed to run after him and catch him. :rotfl He sulks if we don't run after him when he has the ball in his mouth! :crazy
LOL. Jimmy. But my dad calls him "Shyam rao" (rao used to be a way to address someone with respect in our language LOL, and shyam because he has a black coat!) :rotfl
