Do you allow your dog to sleep on your bed?
I have a small dog and he sleeps in our bed.My PIL came here and they made an big issue on it.He stays inside all day.we give all his vaccines,flea medicine,heart worm med on time.Another general question why most of the Indians including (my PIL,husband's fds) hate dogs?I may be wrong but still its in my mind.

Hi abcd,
I also have a dog but I never let him sleep on my bed.I've bought a big basket,covered with soft material and matress inside.Since he was puppy,he sleeps inside it.I let him roam and he is free to go anywhere inside the house.But whenever visitor comes,i take him upstair and chained him outside for a while.Try to train him to be in the cage as well.

My cat sleeps ONLY on our bed/ couch and she sheds fur like crazy in summer! Your dog stays indoors all the time and it looks like you're taking care of him pretty well, I don't see why he should not be allowed on the bed. About your general question, I guess it's the way we are brought up. Animals/ pets were never allowed inside the house in India during earlier times, though I think that's changing now.

When my PIL were here, we tried out best to Crate train him but he was whining and crying. Now he is back to our bed.Whenever visitor comes, I leave him inside the room. I am planning to crate train him slowly. He is chug (pug and chiwawa mix) and he is also sheds like crazy.

Dear A,

I have 2 dogs and both sleep on my bed. One near my pillow and one at my feet. Just like you dog they have been brought up in apartments. So i do not see any reason why they should not sleep next to me. I have been bringing them up like my babies from when they were a month old.

It is the mindset of some people. My dad is a lover of animals, but he also does not like it if the dog climbs on the bed and sleeps next to him.

My grandson who is 3 years old sleeps next o to e on my bed or my son's bed. There r also people who come to our house and say that they r scared of my GS. So we follow one method . We tell to whoever comes to our house beforehand that we have Orion and if they r comfortable they can stay as long as they want. But if they r not comfortable then it is a decision they will have to make. It may sound rude bur my GS is worth that.About you PIL may be it is in their mindset which they have to address

Hi .. my harley has never slept with us on the bed.. but thats our decision.. though my son would've loved it.. I know most of the pet owners whose doggies/ kitties share the bed with them.. so its most normal.. don't worry.. about reaction of guests to our house who don't like dogs/ pets.. well they are told that Harley can't be chained or tied down he is a house member as much as us.. his bark is loud and sacry.. his greeting over -enthu but he gets bored of a new face after 30 mins and minds his own business.. so if you can endure then come.. I've had several hard core dog haters/ or should I say dog fear ridden people who come and stay with us.. and when they leave they turn into dog lovers!!!
so please don't crate/ tie/ cage your pets just for a visitor .. let them learn to accept people and vice versa..

Hi all,

Wonderful reading all the FB's to the question as to allow or not allow pet dogs to sleep on our beds....as for us ....we never got a chance to ask this or think about this ....both our R & J just jumped on to our bed from DAY 1 and are still there and nothing will make them change places .J sleeps on our head side and R on our leg side .We have extended our cots with a make shift arrangement ....there is a wide woodden piece to make the bed wider so that all 4 of us can snooze comfortably .We are fully aware of all the pros and cons with the cons being larger in number but its too late now to change and where is the need to change when the majority has already declared this as final .

hi abcd
i feel it is a no if it is a hairy dog, otherwise it is ok.
but make it a point to maintain your bed free of dog hair, it can cause you /kids some allergy
